Will they not be incinerated upon re-entry?

In principle, sure. In practice, it seems like the ornery and the thin-skinned rise wayyyyyyy past the humble and the competent.

Is that true? How do we know that? Is it cuz you can’t vent it?
Clearly I was not the first with that call to action.
But seriously, Windows is awful. I’ve had to use it lately, and it’s comically bad. Like the OS shows me ads! Wtf!? In Fahrenheit 451, it describes the billboards as longer so you can read them while driving fast on the highway, and I feel like the ads Windows shows are basically a similar type of dystopian. And like, now you can disable more with menus, but then the disable option is like buried somewhere hard to find.
New job time!
Ah, OK. I didn’t realize Lemmy was designed to be similar to Reddit. That’s a relief.
I feel like Reddit has tried to “own” references to bacon, narwhals, some autumn month where men don’t shave, and various memes. I kinda don’t blame them for monetizing drawings and words, but as I’m sure they know very well by now, wall street wants that and.

Pretty much. AWS offers (and runs on) Linux AFAIK.

How?? I do not see a link to a running instance… …is it right in front of my face? I’ll look again.
A blimp on a chtulu who is also carrying a Tommy gun?
Agreed. I didn’t realize he died so long ago. Tho I am very envious that you saw him perform live.
Wow that is a lot. Thank you – and RIP David Bowie. The others, too, of course. I was thinking Muhammad Ali died circa Bush as potus. Huh. And Elie Wiesel must have been like 90+. Like he was married when he was put in a concentration camp (and his wife was killed there🙁).

Can I see it in action?
Who died? I stopped keeping track after …hmmm would it be funnier to say Kurt Cobain (RIP) or James Brown (RIP)?

I agree with you, but something jumped out at me while reading this thread. To a degree, the fear of “breaking something” is completely legitimate, but it’s based on not getting quick feedback from systems. For instance, if you are walking in a direction that you think is east, but the sun is setting ahead of you, you know you’re headed in the wrong direction. Computers often don’t provide such useful feedback, often leading users to “break things.”
That’s good you stay busy. I used to say “plenty of time to sleep when you’re dead,” but that’s incorrect. Pretty much every religion, etc is about your soul. Your body is very much not sleeping, and I sincerely hope souls don’t need sleep – that’s ridiculous.
Bottom line: if you wanna get things done, there’s no time like the present!
I half want to say thanks and half want to urge you to not even tell me about new rabbit holes to go into,.

In fairness, x11 is a bit of a dumpster fire and has been as long as I’ve used Linux (since 2003).
I thought “Web2.0” was roughly a synonym for 'Sites with AJAX" (XMLHttpRequestObject) which I thought was ~2006.
