Privacy@programming.dev•Most, if not all car companies collect and profile your data, how can I improve my privacy when buying a modern car?
14·13 hours ago“We’ve detected a malfunctioning data transmitter… we meant sensor. To ensure our data mining… we meant your safety, the vehicle will not start until we can properly spy on you… we meant before the issue is corrected. Please tow the vehicle to your nearest mining facility… we meant dealer.”
And there would be less needless fatalities than with our current police force.
Don’t be daft. When an American dies their body is rearranged in the physical matrix and their consciousness is respawned elsewhere in the digital matrix. How else do you think that country keeps spawning so many new slaves to their machine?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Actually I'm not impressed enough to bother starring
3·7 days agoGuys… she’s asking us not to make fun of it. I think we are totally missing the point here.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•what is the best fruit to leave in a fridge?

Linux@programming.dev•Debian's APT Will Soon Begin Requiring Rust: Debian Ports Need To Adapt Or Be Sunset
13·7 days agoExactly my thoughts. What does this joker even mean? I regularly use 2-3 monitors, and have used four in certain roles. Almost everyone I know that really uses their machine has, at minimum, two screens.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK this is the Southern part of the United States. Most people living in this area are extremely Christian. They also support Donald Trump
4·7 days agoAlso, why does The South have the worst people in so many countries?
I find this to be mostly untrue. I run into less horrible people per capita here than the other areas I’ve lived and traveled in(excluding Louisiana; they are their own brand of “fuck you.”)
I looked them up and they are pretty similar. I want to say that’s not them cause they aren’t exactly what I remember, but it probably is. I was a kid in a foreign land when I saw them, so who knows.
I can’t remember the name of them, but the pen was made of metal. Those never came off!
Permanent marker is just as easy to remove. On virtually any surface all you need is isopropyl alcohol and a cloth/tissue/napkin/etc. I was also thinking of it from the perspective of vandalizing a possibly insane persons property and want to be done as soon as possible.
Blue and white electrical tape would work faster and cleaner. You’re welcome. ☺️
It does! It’s different from most of the other iterations of “glass” UI. It’s clean and (mostly) polished. I stated this in a separate comment but I’ll say it here for you, too in case you don’t read my other reply. Everyone in my circle loves it, and one person has trouble reading with it sometimes, but they are in their 70’s and still do like the Liquid Glass. They have enabled the tinting, but aren’t sure if they’re going to keep it that way. This article is kind of misleading, IMO
I think that for people with eyes worse than my own, I can see the problem. The tinted version is definitely needed. But to say it’s horrible and no one likes it is a bit extreme. Everyone in my circle loves it. One person is very happy for the tiny, but they still liked the glass even if they found it difficult to read(this person is also in their 70’s…)
I like it. 🤷🏻♂️

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Lemmy is just a censorship platform for the weakEnglish
4·19 days agoLet’s not miss their improper usage of “worst.” Someone is BIG mad.
I love this song! The first two or three times I hear it each year. By the five hundredth time, I’m considering shoving a screwdriver in each ear.
Depends on what it is and what it offers. If the product is something unlikely to experience failure that would be covered(like a standard, basic Weber grill), then no. If it is and there are no additional offerings for registering, then no. I keep photo copies of my receipts so there is never a question about purchase dates or warranty expiration. If there are additional offerings, I weigh the need for them and if they are good enough then yes, I will.
I’ll add to this that I always buy the insurance anytime it’s offered. I accidentally bought it with a TV about a decade ago and two days after the warranty expired I was moving and dropped the TV(barely. It was about an inch from the floor an shouldn’t have had a failure from the drop). It would give audio but no video. I told them that and they still replaced it, free of charge, with a much better model. My electric shaver just died two and a half years after I bought it and used it every day: replaced for free with a better model. The insurances have paid for themselves at this point.

This is the way! Bonus points if you set it up on a timer so that you can have your phone face down when it occurs, saving you from any suspicion.
