Yes it is much cheaper and easier to convince people to not use vaccines and other proven medical interventions than it would be to create a novel virus. Look at the idiotic life threatening things people are willing to do to follow a TicToc trend or Insta. Not to mention all the idiocy they will follow due to AI. Those are the ‘deadly viruses’ people should be fearing.
A more honest researcher would say “bought any vehicle from x country and it kept trying to contact servers in x country even after driving it into a mine”. They lose credibility when they try to insinuate that this only happens with EVs and only with China made vehicles.

I know my parents didn’t think the world was stable when the Korean war and then Vietnam were going on plus Cold War, acid rain, ozone depletion and women had very few rights. Blacks couldn’t vote in the USA so that caused spillover problems in Canada. When I was your age it was a recession, gas had been horrendously expensive, interest rates were high teens or 20s, recent university grads were going on to second degrees because there was no work to be had - although post secondary debt wasn’t as high as now because you literally couldn’t borrow that much money unless your parents were rich and could afford to pay it.
What I’m saying is that very rarely does anyone in your age group feel like the world is going their way. Figure what you able to do, a combination of your talents and your likes, and figure out the cheapest way to learn how to do it if it means post secondary education or trades or your own time. Most people cannot find something they LOVE to do that will also pay the bills. Or even if you do love it, making it pay the bills is a good way to eventually hate it. In regards to bills, what life do you, not your parents/friends, want to live? Your needs might be less or more than anothers. One person can have a great life on $50K and another “needs” $200K. Where do you need to live? Many people get stuck on staying where they grew up but if you look to previous generations, many had to move to get to where their job and their life aligned. There are probably many, many jobs that you have never heard of and therefore haven’t considered. Career counselling can help.

I remember when consumers had power because they refused to buy things. Tech has power because no one will go without. Don’t buy a new phone, computer, tablet, game. Make do with what you already have. Stop approving of everything Tech is doing by buying all their stuff regardless of the enshitification and spyware. Learn how to use cash again or whatever is necessary to stop empowering Tech.

Yep Ed should have cancelled the rest of the tour. No need to worry about all the lower paid people in the entourage who would suddenly be out of work. No need to worry about the fans that bought tickets and made travel arrangements that will be out money for the cancellation. I feel he was probably put in no win situation and all the people ragging on him now would be ragging on him if he had cancelled as well.
Quite a bit of our kitchen stuff: Braun stick blender from the 1980s, Cuisinart from the early 1990s, my mother’s osterizer and electric frying pan from who knows when. I’m sure there are more. Until very recently, my husband had his coffee maker from since he started uni in 1979. Had 2 or 3 replacement carafs but it still brewed a pot until recently. My sewing machine is from the 1980s. A few outdoor and garage tools have made it a long time as well. The hedge trimmer has be 40+ yo. Ditto for the table saw. The oldest is a waffle maker from the 1940s. We have a couple Texas Instrument calcs from the 80s. Makes one sad when you realize how long those items keep working versus most things today that are toast after a year or two.
That was my first thought when I saw a headline this morning about the treat of AI. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe AI is a threat, however Trump is going to kill the world first if he isn’t dealt with.
Well it is now run by Trump’s hand pick cronies and all Trump knows how to do is bankrupt things. Sad but if I were an American I’d worry more about the fact that he is close to bankrupting the whole country.
For the companies that mind you bringing an iced coffee, you should be glad if they reject you. If that is part of their criteria, they probably aren’t someone you would want to work for. I didn’t like the people who were obviously putting on an act to try to be what they thought I wanted them to be during the hiring process. Culture fit is important. Two people with the same skills will not be equal candidates if one is contrary to the rest of the employment group. Also someone who will not fit in will not be able to fully use their skills due to social conflicts. Soft skills matter more in some positions/companies than others.
