I like city building games and puzzles. I like other things as well, but that’s not important right now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"If I can't win an argument, I must change my mind." Do you agree with this view?
1·11 hours agoNo, because you can have arguments over vibes based things, purely opinion. [Tap 2 expand]
E.g “i think well implemented communism and well implemented capitalism would be equally as effective at running society, but i prefer cyberpunk aesthetics so i’m voting money til i die.”
Hmm… bad example. That person just sounds stupid and a danger to themselves.
Chocolate cake versus cheesecake. I might feel strongky about my answer (cheesecake) but it’s just opinion
Okay i kind of dodged your question there. Even if someone batters me in a debate, I might assume that i just haven’t landed upon the right argument to win that debate yet. Sometimes the opponent is so sure they’re winning when they’re really not… we should focus more on rhetoric in schools.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I used to love computing as a hobby, but now it feels like it's a source of evil in the world, how have you dealt with this?
3·11 hours agoWe need actual human programmed things as alternative to the AI wastelands, so please keep at it.
Every time something you like sells out to AI, make a clone of it or find an AI free clone version already made.
If i go to someones house and they have a manga shelf my clothes are coming off pronto. Assuming all parties consent, that is.

I have absolutely no problem with wearing seatbelts. And they have nothing to do with gen x or heroin overdoses

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever just felt so bored with life that you wanna die?
4·1 day agoAs a kid I felt so frustrated with how bored I got that I had tantrums, on one or two occasions.
But nowadays I don’t get bored at all - phone, video games and work/study mean there’s always something to do, and not enough time in the day.
Boredom can be useful. Use it for self reflection, exercise, et cetera. I would credit how bored I was as a kid with how smart i was as a kid.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever just felt so bored with life that you wanna die?
9·1 day agoAddressing underlying problems is the best cure for problems. You need to push yourself to explore the world more, maybe visit somewhere new, or take on new life projects like a job, volunteering or study.

Star Wars Memes@lemmy.world•Just had a realization about Episode 1English
4·1 day agoIt’s confusing as well because there’s a double layer to the lore; humans rose
up againstfrom the ashes of the Rakatan Infinite Empire, who had enslaved them and other worlds using the infinity gate technology. The rakatans had themselves rebelled against the Kwa, who enslaved them and other worlds using the infinity gate technology. The Kwa received the technology straight from “the celestials,” a small family of force wielding deities who help to keep the balance in the force and also keep on leaving random super-tech spacestationa lying around in space.
Then the kwa, after being defeated by Rakatans, turned into dinosaurs for some reason that i don’t understand. Completely un-evolved.

Star Wars Memes@lemmy.world•Just had a realization about Episode 1English
3·2 days agoIt’s at least a solid part of legends and so much of disney canon has just been adopting the cool parts of canon so i expdct it is/will be canon.
Here's what wookiepedia says
- Vague on whether humans were the first colonial power, strongly implied to be the dominant colonial power when measured against other empires like Duros.
- So, unlike legends for first point, like legends for second point.
In Stargate for instance they were slaves that were taken everywhere in the galaxy.
I’m looking forward ro getting around to watching Stargate. If i understand the premise, star wars legends has a very similar story leading to the origins of hyperspace and space travel for humans.
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Infinity_Gate
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Infinite_Empire/Legends
Maybe it was lifted straight from stargate. This is all by writers independent of George Lucas, for the record
Oh and for the record, some planets are in a region called “The colonies,” which i would think of like New England for the Star wars galaxy - the original colonies of groups setting out from the inner rim of worlds as they progress outwards.
