Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do integrated graphics work if CPUs use sequential processing and GPUs use parallel processing?
12·20 hours agoThe CPU has cores for parallel processing like a GPU does (though not as fast or numerous; think hundreds vs thousands). These are not to be confused with the main CPU cores meant for fast single-threaded performance. Intel calls them “execution cores.”
The bigger difference for performance is that integrated graphics share RAM with the CPU while GPUs have their own ultra-fast dedicated RAM for the type of work they do.
I would like to hear the rationale for putting Buddhist theocracy to the right of Christian theocracy. Not saying it’s wrong; I don’t know enough about Buddhism to have a stance. But I’m familiar with Christianity and it’s hard to imagine anything out-fasching it.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•We may soon have 70 million boomers too old to drive, too car-dependent to stop.English
1·24 hours agoNah, I appreciate your comment. It’s hard when the answer to “should this person be driving” is ‘maybe,’ when they’re right on the edge like that. That’s something I don’t have experience with because I became unable to drive quickly enough that I couldn’t even if I wanted to.
I definitely relate to your feeling of “why would I want to put other people in danger” though. I stopped driving long before I technically had to because I didn’t want to be unsafe.
Repeating background texture that makes the text a bit hard to read. Begging visitors to sign the guestbook. ‘Under construction’ gif for pages that aren’t done yet. Autoplay midi (probably not possible nowadays).
Imagine being so hated that 21 isn’t enough to keep you safe. You need 22.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the most horribly aged comedy film of the 2000's?

My country has juries and I agree with you 100%. I’ve seen how these complete idiots perform their duties and I’m not trusting my fate to that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something other people seem to grasp easily that eludes you?
1·3 days agoI’m curious if it’s the whole shebang or there are some aspects you do okay with. Immutability, higher-order functions, partial application, recursion, closures, pattern matching, tacitness, etc. I can also recommend not starting with Haskell. It’s a bit much.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats your favorite piece of media that was a commercial failure.
14·4 days agoDonnie Darko. It perfectly fits your second criterion. It was an abysmal flop in theaters, mostly because its ads got pulled because it featured ::: spoiler spoilers a jet engine crashing into a house just 6 weeks after 9/11. :::
It had a budget of $4.5 million and only made $500k in theaters. But it later exploded on DVD and made $10 million.
nice try hax0r
You’re not on a good site for that lol
No one cares even a single bit about disabled folks. Even so-called leftists. Honestly, especially them, it feels like so often to me.

Low cognitive ability: not bullshit, evidently. BTW, this was determined entirely by a 10-question, multiple choice vocabulary quiz.
