Open Source@lemmy.ml•An alternative decentralized internet for sharing text and media: The Gemini ProtocolEnglish
1·23 days agoYeah, afterwards I actually looked at Agates code specifically to get inspiration for features where I saw the vhost part.
But like the protocol it was fun to just try out if I can implement something useful.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•An alternative decentralized internet for sharing text and media: The Gemini ProtocolEnglish
6·23 days agoIt’s kind of meaningless but very interesting at the same time :D
Just a week ago I put my bog on there: gemini://jeena.net
The thing is also that there was no server available for Ubuntu so it would automatically be updated with the system updates. So instead of keeping it up to date manually, I decided to get some help of a coding agent and we made together a simple static file serving Gemini server which I pu on here: https://git.jeena.net/jeena/pollux
I’m still working on it, especially I want virtual hosts and better parallelism.
I just hope that the time I put in ti Make it secure payed off and nobody hacks my server. Normally I only work on the application layer.
Good point, I’ll Do that!
God damn haha thanks for posting it, I was sure I posted the link but apparently not ^^

World News@lemmy.world•Poland Considers Ban on Chinese-Made Cars Entering Its Military BasesEnglish
14·24 days agoI mean that makes sense considering how many cameras those foreign cars have, China forbid Teslas in many places because of the same thinking. Poland should extend the ban to all foreign adversary countries incl. And especially the US.
I wrote an article on my blog about it.

1·25 days agoYes I always have it on, both when I’m at home and away. The problem is that when I try to pay something with Samsung Pay, the Samsung Pay app tells me to turn off the VPN before I can use it.

1·25 days agoThat sounds too good to be true :D I’m also really interested in Graphene OS but I never pulled the trigger. Perhaps I need to buy some used pixel to try if all the things work which I need.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Help getting started with self hosting Jellyfin via NAS?English
1·25 days agoSo how do you deal with the fact that So many services on the phone tell you to turn off VPN to use them? I’m turning the VPN off and on several times a day on my phone and am always annoyed about it, because I need it on so I can get notifications and calls from my parents home network.
But every time I need to pay with Samsung Pay I have to turn it off, every time I want to log in to a government website I have to use this 2FA PASS app here in Korea and I have to turn the VPN off.
So often I forget to turn it on again, it’s so annoying, that this alone makes me want to put my stuff directly on the internet without a VPN and just keep stuff updated.

1·25 days agoI installed Jellyfin on my Synology and it works very well for a bit and then it gets stuck and Synology stopps the Docker container and you need to start it again. So every time me and the wife sit down to watch a movie it doesn’t work, while when I test it then it works. I had to switch to rygel on my PC quickly so that we could watch the movie this day.
