  • In the military there were two kinds of officers: the ones moved from enlisted to officer through schooling and hard work and the ones who started their career in ROTC.

The ones who came up from nothing were always the first to help out the workers and rarely pulled rank. They wanted the entire unit to don well and were not above getting dirty. They were also the most highly respected for it.

The worst and most selfish officers were the ones who came out of ROTC as officers and were essentially police, but with rank only. They sucked and no one liked them and any respect they received was only due to their rank, never to them.

I feel humility and the actual act of working your way to the top is the only way to maintain a connection to your humanity. So many of the current ultra wealthy come from money, didn’t work for it, and don’t know how to be a human being as a result of it. The last time that kind of generational-wealth was flaunted while the masses starved and suffered, it was in France, and there were a lot of removed heads. The only thing that saved the rich during the Great Depression was the fact there were a lot of them that lost everything as well. Almost everyone was in the same boat.

Those at the top will learn, soon enough, that they only maintain their wealth through the grace of those near the bottom. Squeeze too hard and their whole world will come down around them.

  • Zero.

The number of people mentioning Biden before you. Also, the number of people that give two shits about Biden at this point in time. Like tRump, staying on topic requires a modicum of intelligence and focus.

By the way, illegals can be anything those making the laws says it is. It’s a slippery slope, and when reduced to fewer and fewer people determining what is and isn’t illegal, the faster it is subject to change. You should hope whatever in group(s) you belong to now never fall out of favor with those in charge.

  • Right? Even before he was in Congress he was a comedian. If I recall correctly, during a live performance for troops, I think, he pretended to grope a female wearing a flak vest. It was all in jest with everyone laughing about it on the video. The female victim didn’t even think it was a big deal, if I recall, and didn’t think he should have any punishment for it. It was so disheartening to watch it all play out.

The right is fine using cancel culture to force a Democrat to resign, but Republicans literally lie, cheat, steal, and harass and there’s nothing but crickets from them.

  • This is all my own opinion and observations. Feel free to disagree:

Rich people are like all of us. They constantly feel this absence that they can’t quite fill with material things, no matter how hard they try. They just have a lot of money to try more and more of those things. It’s like compulsive gambling. The next spin will be the jackpot, I just know it!

The problem is they have too much money and don’t know when/how to enjoy what they already have. Eventually, the dopamine they get from new and shinny things wears thin and they need to find more or something new to get it again.

Why do you think their current objectives are aimed at dismantling society and regression to earlier eras? They’ve gotten to a point where nothing makes them happy so they think society is the reason. They also want regression because many of them have fond memories of their childhood and associate the time period with those pleasant feelings.

Unfortunately, the problem is in their head. We’re all just along for the ride. Even if they are successful at tearing down society, and even if they somehow come out of that time on top, it won’t last. Then they’ll die having destroyed the planet and countless lives chasing a fictitious world comprised entirely of a fleeting hormone in their brain.

People on their deathbeds often cite similar regrets of focusing on shit that doesn’t matter, while letting the things that do matter wither away. It’s why I don’t like to participate in a lot of the same things, at 40, that my peers do, and why I never have. I enjoy the journey and don’t feel there was ever a destination. It’s why the attitudes of some with power upset me. I don’t want to be a part or their sickness, yet like most of you, I have no choice.

    I hate it here.
