She’s going to a farm 10 mins from my house that will be incredible for the old girl. She’ll get outside time all day in huge pastures with other horses, a bigger, warmer, cleaner stall at night, better feed and a better community of horse owners. It’s also cheaper, so her actual owner will be saving money. The owners of the new farm are retired and board horses because they love the animals, not for profit.

I can’t express how excited I am.

Thank you! We scheduled the move so far in advance so I’ll be healed up enough to physically handle Sandy if I need to. She might not want to get in and out of the trailer without me beside her. This will also give her thrush treatments time to work as well. We don’t want her bringing the grossness to her new stall, since the fungus is one of the reasons we’re moving her.

Are you working with the owner on this? I had been under the impression that you were doting on Sandy because the owner wasn’t able to be very involved but the owner wasn’t necessarily coordinating with you on anything.

Edit: Fixed typo from doing to doting

I am. The owner and I speak every so often and are friendly. When I told her of the abhorrent conditions of the barn, we discussed a move and made a decision after a lot of thought. Our partnership with Sandy is that I do the hands on stuff that she can’t, and she makes sure the finances are good.
