For me, Bruzz on DAB gets poor reception. And because it’s digital, it’s not just a bit of static… it cuts in and out which is really intolerable. When I tune to Bruzz on FM, there is a little static but it’s at least tolerable.
It’s also a bad move to ditch FM because a radio with vacuum tubes can tune FM, which means it can withstand an EMF pulse. There is no way for a digital radio to withstand and EMF pulse (which can be generated artificially or it can be a side-effect of a nuke).
They have decided to make everyone even more vulnerable to incidents, failures, and attacks (cyber or otherwise).
Anyway, the English translation of the linked article follows (emphasis mine):
“Under the impetus of VRT, DPG Media and Mediahuis and with the support of the Flemish government, Digitale Radio Vlaanderen CV was born. DRV stimulates a successful digital transformation of the radio landscape.
The sector initiative promotes digital listening through sector-based campaigns via all possible platforms (DAB, streaming, Radioplayer, apps) with the ultimate goal of realizing an analogue switch-off. Switching off the analogue FM band is - just like in all other European countries - a policy objective.
In addition to active promotion, DRV CV provides proactive stakeholder management: the automotive industry, retailers, tunnel operators and non-national broadcasters are actively involved in the implementation of this policy objective.
Finally, DRV CV is a license holder of Radioplayer for Flanders. Radioplayer provides a non-profit streaming aggregation platform and a metadata back-end for hybrid radio experience in the majority of (European) cars. With the latter, the various distribution platforms (FM, DAB, streaming) are aggregated into 1 ‘radio receiver’.”
