What is this X-GPX ppl write on their bulky waste?

People sometimes write X-GPX or GPX with a sharpie on the waste they dump. Sometimes annoying because the coffee tables they dump would otherwise be useful to someone else. What is this about? My search attempt just comes up with some kind of cycling route or competition or something.
