As an Iranian, this is only the Iranian regime’s fault. The only person responsible for death of so many Iranians and other people are the mullahs.
Don’t fall for western propaganda. Even if you had a peaceful and democratically elected government, you’d still be a target for the USA. Your government would get couped and then they would install their own pariah government in place, destabilize the country, cause suffering for the populace, and then reap the profits from your natural resources until you’d have nothing. That’s their MO.
Yeah, I don’t know why people think Israel would tolerate a democratic country that threatens their military dominance. An unsanctioned, democratic Iran with 90M people would undoubtedly develop more weapons and be able to sustain a much more significant armed conflict than the Islamic Republic. Such a country becoming a serious threat to Israel would be only a matter of electing the “wrong” government. Why wouldn’t they preemptively hit just like they did now?
Why did Iranians fight a revolution against the US and Israel backed Shah again? I think Israel and the US, and when they still mattered the UK were pretty deadly for Iranians and continued to be ever since.
