Curiosity has started a new drilling campaign on Mars at the “Atacama” site, exploring layered sulfate bedrock on Mount Sharp for the first time since leaving the boxwork terrain.

Scientists are analyzing these ancient rocks to uncover more about Mars’ geological history and past environment.
