The Firewall is a journalistic watchdog that not only hunts down abuses but also takes them on head-on. The Firewall focuses entirely on Big Tech and investigates the power, influence, and impact of major technology companies on our society, democracy, economy, and privacy. The urgency is great, because developments are unfolding at an alarming pace. That is why The Firewall goes the extra mile. Where journalists usually hope that civil society will take up the findings of their work, The Firewall takes action themselves. They will expose abuses in a journalistic and verifiable manner. In addition, they will also combat these abuses through legal means wherever possible and appropriate.
Sadly DeepL doesn´t support page-translation, so this link uses Google Translate. Still, it is using Google to fight Google, so we have to start somewhere, I guess.
Word medestander van The Firewall en help mee de macht van Big Tech te breken.
That’s cool, I guess, but what are these people going to do that organisations like the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Bits of Freedom aren’t already trying to do? It kind of reads like a bunch of noobs and normies have finally figured out Google and Facebook are evil and now they think they’ve invented a new kind of activism.
Didn’t know about Bits of Freedom, looks good too!
This firewall project seems to be supported by a number of influential and rich people. It’s good that they are openly supporting such a project but the project in itself still needs to prove itself. For general public I’d say keep supporting the organisations that already exist and have shown their worth.
It looks like the founder is the same guy that also started Follow the Money. That does lend it some credibility, I guess.
Nice! Dank voor de link. Eens kijken wat de concrete plannen zijn.
Eric smit zat bij Follow the Money wat soort gelijk maar breder is.
