non-native flatmate saw that the toilet flush didnt stop and looking at the water meter was just putting 50 liters of water literally down the drain per hour. asked me to tell our ladnlord to fix it, they couldnt bcs language barrier.

so instead of texting the landlord and waiting for 2 weeks, letting 1000 liters of water go to waste each day, i pulled of the cover and found basically one big block of chalk blocking the bobby but that closes the pipe when the tank is full.

20 minutes later and a loooot of vinegar essence izs as good as new and also the tank doesnt take like 10 minutes to fill up anymore.

I’ve got a toilet that takes forever to fill up and live in hard water country. Did you just dump distilled vinegar in the tank and let it sit?

i completely dismantelled the mechanical parts, let them sit in the vinegar, while chipping it off the walls of the tank and then using an old toothbrush to brush off a bit more, constantly dipping the toothbrush in vinegar essence. didnt dump any in the tank bcs no idea if it could break something

Yeah, that’s a good point. Hmm… This sounds like a good weekend project.

Always take a look yourself first. So often it’s simple.

My daughter was about to call a plumber but I re-adjusted the hydrofor pressure. Problem solved €200 saved (yes, out in the country, the costs for them to get here add up real quick)

In the washing room of my apartment block a floor drain dried out and made the room smell. I walked in and there was a woman who complained to me about the smell, I said to just pour some water down there, she said it’s best left to the building maintenance and she would call.

After she left I poured water down the drain.

I poured water down the drain.

I sure hope you are licensed to do that buddy! How did you know what water to use? How much of it?

(Nah, good job, it’s a classic example!)
