Cashew butter mixed with water makes better cream of mushroom soup than cream does; I say this as a dairy afficionado, I don’t do it as a vegan thing, I make it that way because it’s better.
So for soup, cashew I agree. Hazelnut for sweet things, and peanut for other savory stuff.
