    I know it’s a cultural thing, but as a European I never understood why the US doesn’t protect the identity of mentally ill people.

      for-profit prisons and a 24-hour news cycle. i was never a fan of public mugshots, since they can stay online forever even if the charges are dropped

      The whole country is, so if they didn’t violate those rights nothing would get done.

      In medicine, the entire mental health part of a chart remains hidden unless there’s a mental health reason to break past that block. And since every click in medical charting is recorded, you’re not doing that for fun and keeping your job. Nvm the fact that most of the people with access to the medical chart would respect the info anyway.

      And yet, anyone else with a camera and a platform is free to spew.
