Then don’t go out and willing buy Google’s, Apple’s, Microsoft’s, your bank’s, or your government’s devices, which you already know ahead of time are locked to their own rules? What makes you feel like you are entitled to this lmao you are not required to own any of those devices, if you don’t like them why are you still purchasing them year on year

This is such an insanely foreign perspective to me. Who gives a shit if people are “entitled” to total control over their hardware, a world where people have that control is better, so we should force companies to comply. Why would anyone care about the freedom of a multi-billion dollar corporation to fuck over their users lmao

If I started a company selling a product with my rules and you bought my product accepting my rules and then you started randomly bitching and crying to me about the rules then explain how I am suddenly the one who’s the wrong, and if you could do so and force me to have losses why would I bother even starting the company to create and sell you the product you want in the first place

It’s reality my friend (something 99% of users on this website seem to not be living in), if you could install literally anything on anything then you can wave goodbye to all the competition and just 1 king os that everyone flocks to and 1 king piece of hardware, would be an absolute disaster without competition and why would companies even attempt to compete in that world, you can’t win customers over with good software (locked to your hardware) nor good hardware (locked to your software), most development would cease worldwide as most go bankrupt

I don’t want to live in a society where the only reason people make anything is to make a profit, and don’t think for-profit companies should exist. You’re barking up the wrong tree with this argument, I do not care.

This is dumb. “If we restrict the behavior of corporations to literally any degree whatsoever, no one will bother to compete and we’ll have to deal with monopolies.”

Most industries already are controlled by monopolies 😭

Then why are you living in such a society? Because let me tell you this ain’t going away for the remainder of your lifespan, this is called how the real world works

You’re barking up the wrong tree with this argument, I do not care.

Evidently you do since you are replying to me

          This is dumb.

          Got nothing on you

“If we restrict the behavior of corporations to literally any degree whatsoever, no one will bother to compete and we’ll have to deal with monopolies.”

Attempt at a fake strawman argument of “any degree whatsoever”, and you know it is, that wasn’t what I was saying at all and why even bother sitting here and detailing this step by step when it’s blatantly obvious to anyone with an IQ above 50, you are skirting around my point pretending it’s something else since you cannot address it, allowing every os on any device is a fucking 99 out of 100 degree force that would change how software is developed globally the very second it came into place with a fuck ton of companies stepping away immediately (same for hardware), imagine unironically pretending otherwise

Most industries already are controlled by monopolies 😭

You are arguing against a nonexistent point I’ve presented with this one, perhaps against the strawman point you just built up a moment before?
