Young footballer Adam Golebiewski, 18, had been a passenger in Arran Paterson’s car in Macduff, Aberdeenshire, in September last year.

Paterson, 19, admitted dangerous driving, being over the drink-drive limit and driving without insurance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

I’m not blaming him here, don’t get me wrong. But if you are in his situation, in a car with a reckless idiot endangering others, open your mouth. Tell them to stop, scream if necessary. Even call the police on them while in the car. If you’re walking home in the rain, it’s better than dying in a crash.

I’ve been friends with someone like this, and I’ve ended the friendship exactly like this. “Funny” enough, some month later he crashed with his car, nearly died, and nearly killed three others. Don’t be a fool and don’t get killed by idiots.

Absolutely, but he might not have known what the guy was doing or even who he was. Kids are going to go with friends of friends.

The driver absolutely did know, and he’s the one with the licence and all the responsibility.

That’s why you should tell them to stop immediately and let you out. You can tell them you have to vomit. This should do the trick almost every time.

My son lived with his mom the majority of his life. More than once we discussed her drinking problem and that he should never get in the car if she’d been drinking. Including calling 911, if she tried to force him to go. Thankfully, there wasn’t ever a major incident.

I’m gonna be honest here, i did not do that a long time when i should. Now i’m older and don’t have friends anymore who do reckless shit like that. But when they look at their phone i tell them or ask them to just drop me off.

What you quoted should really be put in the title of the article.

Like you said, I feel for him but there is a difference between being a passenger and being a pedestrian.

We can’t change the article, but the title of the post could br tagged with [passenger of drunk driver].
