The trans scene in that movie melted peoples minds back then. So much so it was rehashed as a plot twist in Ace Ventura (1994) just a few years later.

I thought the reaction of Fergus/Jimmy was too much. At least the movie answers its title early on. I don’t have the strength of Dil to stay that loyal to my soulmate’s killer, even after all of that that she went through. But the writing was well done, even if it ended in a patriarchal message.
