Washington (United States) (AFP) – US President Donald Trump said Friday that he had struck a deal with Denmark to give Washington “permanent control” over Greenland’s security that would bar Russia and China from setting up bases in the Arctic territory.

Since returning to the White House in January 2025, Trump has repeatedly insisted that Washington needed to control Greenland for strategic reasons, alarming NATO ally Denmark and sparking fierce pushback from the alliance.

Denmark and Greenland – an autonomous territory controlled by Copenhagen – both hailed the deal and said they would sign it on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York next week.

But the terms of the deal remain uncertain, and Denmark maintains its sovereignty remains intact.

In a statement, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described the deal as “an agreement which at the same time recognizes the sovereignty an territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the Greenlandic people’s right to self-determination.”

“I am pleased to announce that the United States of America has entered into an Agreement with The Kingdom of Denmark, and Greenland, that gives the United States permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland,” Trump said on his Truth Social network.

“From now on, no US adversary can EVER have a base in Greenland, have a military presence in Greenland, or make sensitive investments in Greenland, without our express written approval.”

The 80-year-old said it was an “‘Infinite Life’ Agreement, there is no end!” and said Washington would immediately start building up a large military presence in the territory.

A deal is reached among consenting parties. If one party is a bully and the other is being blackmailed, what sort of a deal is this?

The bully in this instance is retarded so actually, Greenland won. This deal is basically status quo, but Greenland is protected from invasion by the US because the orange monkey has signed in agreement that Greenland belongs to the inuit. That includes Greenland’s natural resources.

Furthermore, America has been neglecting their military pressense in Greenland, which was their duty to protect and now they are going to pour more military power into protecting Greenland as was their duty to begin with.

Trump hasn’t won shit, other than spending more money and resources on a piece of land that doesn’t belong to America.

The Danish and Greenlandic politicians are really good salesmen, who know how to make this idiot think he won.

This entire deal goes directly against his and his fanboys’ values, but they are too stupid to see it.

“These are the terms”, said the Messenger, and smiled as he eyed them one by one. “The rabble of Gondor Europe and its deluded allies shall withdraw at once beyond the Anduin Atlantic, first taking oaths never again to assail Sauron Trump the Great in arms, open or secret. All lands west of the Atlantic shall be Trump’s forever, solely. East of the Atlantic as far as the Ural Mountains and the Gap of Bosporus shall be tributary to Trump, and men there shall bear no weapons, but have leave to govern their own affairs.”

So it’s a sort of treaty organizing the militaries of countries around the North Atlantic? What a novel idea. Putin won’t like it.

My honest guess is that the deal is like the so called NAFTA 2.0. In otherwords it’s the same security deal already there just with minor adjustments to account for new things such as Drone Warfare and Artic trade becoming more a reality.
