Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro declared that Venezuela has surpassed 90 percent enrollment , speaking at the closing ceremony of the first Pedagogical Congress of Teachers.

“The missiles fell, and we continue,” Maduro acknowledged, while stating that we are on track to achieve 100 percent school enrollment . He also specified that 85 percent of children attend public high schools and colleges .

Maduro added that "we must continue building. In the harshest years of sanctions, we managed to maintain and sustain public education in Venezuela . "

“Let us continue to advance in the construction of a free, scientific, patriotic, high-quality, humanistic education deeply linked to our country’s development plan as a powerful nation ,” the president stated.

This demonstrates, Maduro claimed, “that it is possible to confront the US supremacists who say that education should not be public but should be for those who can pay .”

In emphasizing a commitment to an education that builds values and skills , Maduro insisted on strengthening the Scientific Seedbed , which already enrolls 625,000 students .

He also acknowledged that " we managed to maintain Chávez’s pedagogical project ," where before his term, public education as a right fought for in the streets had disappeared.

He highlighted the Robinson Mission, which reached more than 2,300,000 people; the Ribas Mission, which reached more than 1,000,000 people; and he praised the Sucre Mission.

The head of state stated that “we are a pacifist, electoralist, constitutionalist movement . This has been proven in 33 elections in 26 years.”

“How many Venezuelans today are professionals of the Republic?” the president reflected, adding that “in any circumstance, with nerves of steel and the utmost unity of the people, the military, and the police, the team wins, and it’s called Venezuela ,” he emphasized.
