me not understanding symbolism: why doesn’t the hero simply not stumble into his prophesied doom?
Is corruption and addiction the same thing?
Corruption makes you evil and act less humanely.
If anything, an addict is more sympathetic and just lacks control.
Also, an artifact or power that corrupts you is literally the opposite of something that everyone has and, let’s be honest, need for basic day to day tasks.
