I would say it’s significantly worse now. Sure, the soldiers need slightly less food per unit of time, since they aren’t wasting as much just walking, but now they have ammo that’s consumed at a much faster rate, and they also have vehicles and generators that consume fuel, and so much else.
We’ve also gotten a lot better with logistics though. We pack things in cargo containers and things, which can be stacked and (off)loaded significantly faster. We also obviously have much faster transportation and production now too.
Logistics is more important than ever, but it’s also significantly better managed and easier to track and handle.
