Like physical strikes, they have tools of oppression at the ready - your credit score will tank meaning among other things your ability to get housing is affected. I agree, but some places there’s simply no option. I have a state job, they will under no circumstances provide a phone, but you must have Authenticator. If you won’t or can’t use a smartphone, you simply don’t have a job.

State jobs are interesting. 3/4 the pay of a regular job, but job security like none other, and you barely have to do anything. I spend most of my time doing my moonlighting job to supplement my income.

I remember the very beginnings of Reddit where there was a “downvote ≠ disagree” rule and it was so much nicer. People only downvoted things that weren’t relevant or in genuinely bad faith. We’ve come a long way from those days. Now I think people get genuine dopamine hits from downvoting an already downvoted comment rather than reading it for themselves.

And now they’re the only one banned from it.

That’s not the vibe the company has been giving so far. Their staff is way more philosopher heavy than MBA heavy. I am planning on their morality being flushed away if/when an IPO happens, because shareholder supremacy cancels out anything else. But so far, they’ve been an interesting case.
