  • As a teen driver, I got a ticket in a school zone two blocks from an elementary school “when children [were] present.” The children in question were my high school peers waiting at a bus stop across the street two hours before the elementary school opened.

After the ticket, I accepted that I definitely violated the letter of the law, but it felt like catching a stray bullet since the teens who made my speed illegal were so obviously not the folks the sign was put up to protect.

  • This was one I loved, but it wasn’t at all what I expected when I read the Steam blurb. “Be the kind of cop you want to be” or some such nonsense.

But, yeah, it’s basically an existential novel masquerading as a game, and if you don’t like (or at least find it interesting) spending time as the protagonist, then it makes sense to be a hard pass.

  • I’m in this boat with you. A few months ago I restarted my Valheim server for friends… And only one person joined me, for all of about 30 minutes. I spent a bunch of solo time just building up a base and trying not to progress too far so I wouldn’t ruin the fun.

I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a Zomboid server, too, but I know it will be the same. We’ll play as a group maybe twice, and that will be it.

  • Do you think that there might be more cyclists around if the existing infrastructure was better maintained and protected?

This isn’t ruining my day, but it seems like a clear example of a problem. And you’re actually being weird by arguing over this “useless shit” while claiming you’re not. I don’t believe your way of living is better if you choose to get annoyed by people being annoyed at something, rather than being annoyed by the thing itself. That cancels out.

  • Does Urban Dead count? I loved Urban Dead for a few years.

I also played something called the Most Wanted Game, which was a mafia/mob themed game where you could form gang coalitions with others and raid adversaries. I think this concept kind of changed into Mafia Wars on Facebook or Clash of Clans as technology progressed and the social proliferation of the Internet continued. (I could be wrong on that, I never played and Facebook games besides Words with Friends, and have never played Clash of Clans - I just assumed they were both different kinds of successors).
