I am typing this reply on an 17 year old PC that works absolutely well for any day-to-day task. A PC that can run Windows 10 happily.
Well… about 20 years ago it was not THAT uncommon for nerdy / techy people to put a small Linux powered PC into their car for all sort of things. I personally had a system build around a passive cooled Transmeta Crusoe based board running on some Suse Linux sitting under the passenger seat of my Escort Mk 4 back then…
I think with a Raspberry Pi or similar system you could build something very interesting today with a much better user experience

I don’t hate Wayland, but I don’t like it either. I just grew up with xorg and I know how to use the tooling around it intuitively and really like some of its features. For me personally there is simply no reason to move away.
As long as chromium is open source I see no problem down the line… and if Google one day stops the funding of open source projects, well, the Firefox is also toast
