It’s a bunch of jokes for our viewing pleasure? At least I think that’s what’s with them.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI Translations Are Adding ‘Hallucinations’ to Wikipedia ArticlesEnglish
6·4 days agoNah bruh it’s cool just run the same prompt again and again and again, surely sooner or later it will be right. In no way is it going to do the opposite and just keep degrading with each output reading from the last one.
Semi related - You know, honestly, all AI is showing me is how absolute bullshit so many jobs are that we have in the corpo world. Like, at some point we’re gonna have an AI write a thing for an AI to read and file and there will be a little loop and then what the hell is the point of the job in the first place if it’s just machines sending things back and forth that’s just business class white noise.

12·8 days agoLMAO works flawlessly in other countries is a hilarious way to say that people still get hit by cars and are injured, or worse, in crosswalks where countries do have hefty fines for not stopping for pedestrians. Also someone would have to actually enforce that.
As a, quite sad, example - a child was killed at a crossing near a school near me when a person who wasn’t paying attention ran them over in the crosswalk. Guess what, here in America where I live there is a fine and it’s even more if you’re in a school zone. Did not flawlessly stop that kid from dying.
I mean that’s literally the joke. Haha you thought you were going to see one thing but you saw another.
It’s just another version of 2girls1cup or tubgirl or goaste … Ok maybe us millennials are fucked because all those examples are heinous AF compared to a little rick roll - but I mean, same concept.
Just subversion of expectation, many a joke is built on a version of that - I’d say it’s ultimately what a lot of humor derives from.
Maybe it’s not funny, it might not even be a joke and more of just a meme but if you are searching for an explanation there is one for you.
I really need to upload like 10 versions to YouTube with different thumbnails just so the “stupid” “joke” can live on.
I won’t because I’m a lazy POS that doesn’t actually care but … Yeah.
Also I know it’s a joke but I also feel like it’s a good PSA in a way that you should check what you’re clicking on, at least make sure the domain is legit (in this case it is since it’s youtube.com but idk just my random thought about the legendary >!ricki tikki tavi rolly polly!< )
They’re called tyranids. They’re in 40k … They literally consume whole planets and take things from the genetic code of the various species they’ve made contact with. They’re a hive mind entity.
Sure, it’s no pit in the ground eating someone for a stupid long time but it’s pretty close.
Why would anyone need to admit anything to HR? That’s the sort of shit that whoever did it goes to the grave with!

2·12 days agoWe are also just ignoring the fact that this is all blatantly unconstitutional. At least I’m pretty sure it is but IANAL but apparently knowing or caring about the law and our system of government is not a requirement for anyone in this admin so I feel equally qualified as the idiots voting for this shit.

1·12 days agoYou’re a silly person, aren’t ya.
Yeah fuck me for acknowledging AR glasses or other AR tech could be very useful but it’s being limited by our privacy concerns that are basically theater at this point.
Truly I am so cowardly Mr big internet man.

1·12 days agoI’m just being realistic about the future. You already are carrying around a machine that’s listening and watching. You’re walking into and out of stores where you’re on camera. Hell you’re driving past however many cameras in your car or walking past them on the street, every business, every office, every space has cameras now.
Thus, I think eventually more and more augmented reality devices will be seen because people will come to appreciate their uses outside of just being recording devices once that concern is overcome. In other words, wearing AR glasses won’t get you default labeled as some perverted weirdo.
You don’t need to bend the knee but we’re past the point where there should be any expectation of privacy in public spaces. I’m not saying I like it, I’m saying I expect our society to continue to move towards a surveillance model where privacy simply cannot be expected in any public space.
Do I think it’s dystopian and bad, yes, yes I do. I also think we need strong privacy protections for our private domiciles. That doesn’t mean my opinion is aligned with what actually is going to happen in our world.
I don’t want it but it’s what is going to happen and has been happening.

4·12 days agoThe truth is that we already are living in the surveillance state and people are just going to have to “get over” being recorded in public by anyone that walks by.
I don’t like it either. But that’s the reality we’re entering into, where privacy isn’t a right but a privilege and that privilege does not exist save for some very select (if any at this point) places like your home … Maybe.

1·16 days agoMan I guess art is subjective but I can’t imagine anyone watching that movie and thinking it’s good.
The “acting” alone was so bad I think I got 45 minutes or so in before I just gave up, it was that bad.
This is too rage-inducing to be real … Right?

World News@lemmy.world•Canadians say U.S. no longer an ally, is bigger threat than Russia: pollEnglish
1·17 days agoRussia is honestly just a worse version of the USA at this point with all the same problems and a little more extreme hate of lgbtq community.
But that’s not really surprising given their history.
They have the benefits most of us should be getting.
We all should have those benefits but that would require us to give a fuck about labor. In my opinion, cops get those benefits for two reasons.
One: they protect the capital investments of the borgeousie so they’re a privileged class to keep them happy.
Two: police have unions that actually fight for them.

1·18 days agoDOGE cost a lot of people their jobs and gave unfettered access to exfiltrate all sorts of data.
They said they were trying to improve stuff but I think they accomplished what their actual goals were. I still can’t believe people voted for Trump after the first go around and fucking everything but apparently we’re surrounded by some real dumb folks.
I like to throw stuff like this into Google Translate just to see what it thinks and it told me that’s “Sichuan Spicy Chicken” which seems like an actual good translation!

Well you’ve come to the right place
