This is standard where I work but getting promoted gives a decent raise to make up for it. It’s a shame for them that I don’t want anymore responsibility though, so I just work less hard each year based on inflation.

Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Need a keyboard with a dedicated "slop" button3·3 days agoI don’t think OP thinks they are actually equivalent though, it’s just a satirical comparison.
Another comparison could be vegans. Environmental impact of meat consumption is huge and it also has the more obvious harm and ethical issues.
Vegans get a lot of shit anyway, but imagine if every comment or post about meat, regardless of where it was or in what context got a barrage of abrasive comments from vegans?
You will never convince someone of your cause if you’re a dick to them. It’s a huge internet trait to just go full meltdown at everything rather than talk with some you don’t agree with to aim for a better outcome.
Please try cooking out the toxins from some chicken 2 weeks past it’s use by date and let us know how it goes.
This is how I decline into drinking too much. I’m currently on a good path though.

Do 20 squats in front of it, and it prints you a free bus ticket.2·8 days agoI think you got a minority of downvotes to start, then others piled in. There are plenty of similar jokes in the thread that didn’t get that treatment. Also, people
on the internetare generally pretty bad at reading and the venn diagram has a lot of overlap with people looking for an excuse to be offended.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldto New Communities@lemmy.world•Growing the Fediverse by sharing linksEnglish2·10 days agoThis articulates my frustration with the internet/lemmy extremely well. I’ve saved it for future reference and I’m optimistically hopeful for the future when maybe this isn’t something so many people need to see.
Nestle produces a lot of other things than sugar and fat. So much in fact that it’s actually hard to completely avoid them. The point is that they are a terrible company who does bad things, so you should boycott them.
Also, people can indulge in sugar and fat if they want to.
Little edit on that past point because some people don’t understand indulge doesn’t always mean over indulge, or they outright think I’m deranged because I might indulge in a chocolate bar as a treat in my otherwise varied and balanced diet and I suggested others might do the same if they want to.
I understand too much fat and chocolate is bad, that doesn’t mean the world should never eat things that might be bad for them in moderation, relax.

My post is an attempt at highlighting the tiresome situation we are in where such a contentious issue is not moderated.
I’m disappointed by the majority of responses missing that point and thinking I’m suggesting people allow ai anywhere, and that I have my head in the sand about the issues surrounding ai use. I said i get it, I do. I didn’t expect I would need to say any more than that.
I’m not a good communicator, clearly, but I’ve been a little shocked by how much flaming has taken place here. Unpopular opinion indeed!
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish5·14 days agoIronically, this reads like an LLM wrote it. That’s also supported by the fact it hasn’t really got much to do with what I said. I’m aware of the reasons why people may be hesitant to see ai content. I’m tired of people complaining and scrutinizing instead of anything being done to update community rules.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish2·14 days agoJust so you know, my preference is for no ai. I’m of similar opinions to you on the broader subject, but I’m just not confrontational about it. I don’t agree there is an etiquette to be observed, the matter isn’t mature enough to have developed one.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish3·14 days agoYou’re tired of ai content in your feed, but the majority of communities allow ai by proxy because there isn’t a stance one way or the other.
The reason this was posted in unpopular opinion is because I am aware the popular opinion is an anti-ai stance. It makes the most sense to me to implement appropriate rules rather than have no rules and then be outraged when ai shows up in your feed.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish4·14 days agoAre you lost?
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish3·14 days agoThis might be hard for you to believe, but I don’t disagree. I think it’s time to set community or instance rules one way or the other rather than have no rules and outrage.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish3·14 days agoI wasn’t sure what other word to use to describe the phenomenon.
Communities should have rules if people don’t like the torrent of ai content, the amount of noise is loud enough to justify it in many places and it’s bizarre to perpetuate the outrage and not have any action.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish6·14 days agoYou hate ai, yet don’t want to prohibit it in the communities you subscribe to?
Surely adding rules to the community is the best way forward here.

Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish6·14 days agoNo I’m not upset about that. I’m upset that this is taking over the majority of the discussion here and the way I worded that is that I’m beginning to find it tiresome. I’m unsure why communities don’t choose a stance so people can go to the ones that ban ai and go back to talking about beans and moths or whatever.
Luvs2Spuj@lemmy.worldOPto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I'm tired of AI persecution on LemmyEnglish5·14 days agoImagine if the communities had rules for ai, so you could curate your feed accordingly.
It’s a bullshit job though. Do you refuse to use elevators because they no longer have attendants? Having worked on a checkout at one time, it was always depressing. Plus there were other tasks that could be done and most people you deal with are awful.
People making the same old quips also make the job that little bit more unbearable - “must be free”, urgh. Seriously you are not gods gift to comedy with these jokes, workers hear them 100 times every day and it is like some kind of compounding psychological damage each time.
