  • “Employees should report to work for their next regularly scheduled tour of duty to undertake orderly shutdown activities”

US glorifies their armed forces so much that they even try to describe “a normal day at work” as a “tour of duty”. Don’t be fucking dumb. It’s important work, absolutely, but describing it in military terms is doing a disservice to everyone. A 9-5 office job doing logistics is not the same as 3 months in a sub. Both equally important as without the logistics, the sub ain’t going anywhere, but don’t describe both as a “tour of duty”.

    Edit: formatting

  • Starbucks is shit, it has always been shit, it will always forever be shit.

There’s a reason it failed in Australia. There’s a reason it only exists still in Australia and that’s only to cater to tourists who don’t like coffee but like coffee-flayoured milk bevetages - you’ll never find Australians in there except maybe if working and forced to make shit drinks. Literally everywhere else is better, including fast food places.

I’ll give it some credit as a “third place” but literally every other coffee shop is too and they serve actual coffee.

  • Stroked many a roo, wallaby and other macropods and they’re not soft everywhere. More interesting is that there’s no real give to their softness. They’re solid muscle below the skin so you don’t really want to poke them too hard. Does depend on the species too though - I ain’t touching a red. A quokka and bettong are quite pliable and have that give when you stroke them, like a cat.

Domestic cat that is. When I stroked a cheetah it was all muscle and smooth but not soft, more like a deer
