If you’re being serious about wanting an option outside of the two parties, only one of them is open to things like ranked choice to get rid of first past the post and eliminating the electoral college so that it’s people and not land doing the voting. Spoiler alert: convincing people to withhold their vote helps the other guys win, and they’re thrilled to keep it a two party system. As an American, yeah you’re right. I could see some argument to forgive and move on from his single term. We could say we learned our lesson and got him out as soon as we could and never looked back. But we elected him again. We can’t say that this isn’t who we are. Not all of us, but enough of us. And even after he’s dead and gone, there’s still the very real (and maybe expected) possibility that we’ll put another dumbass fascist in charge again and he’ll wreck international diplomacy and trade again/still/further.
