Is this video sped up? Its really uncanny in a way that’s making it difficult to pay attention to what she is saying (which is important!).

Oof. Missed this. Thanks, good to know!

If you’re talking about easily available running shoes, there are still select New Balances that are union made in the US (as of a couple of years ago).
If you’re looking for just sneakers, there are a ton made in Europe you can get shipped to north america! I have Vegas at the moment

They have six months to refile, though it isn’t clear it would hold up: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/11/24/us/trump-news/10b95929-ec4d-551a-ba4c-0de3f63c485d

Does someone have a more specific source? I want to read more into these numbers. I knew it was bad, but wow

Ok, unlike the other commenter, you are engaging and this is a fair point. I don’t know enough about the Nepal and South Korea case to assess how fast it took: Yes, it looked like a week to international observers who aren’t reading the Nepal Daily or whatever, but I’d want to here from people on the ground about how much or how little lead up and organization there was leading up to the tipping points.
But that’s not disagreeing with you - just saying I genuinely don’t know if you’re right or not, but I do appreciate the comparisons.

100% agree with the above!

I’m a bit confused on how quickly you expect political change to happen…do you think the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of No Kings can be assessed a week on? Imagine you were in Birmingham during the bus boycott - after a week you’d be out there saying “look! We did this and nothing happened!”
I don’t love everything about no kings, the tactics, and the messaging. But give it a second, dude!
Thirding this, in the same boat!

No protest action appears effective in a complete vacuum. This is one brave action among hundreds and perhaps thousands which can collectively make a difference.

I don’t have a plan or agenda. I think it raises interesting issues about the Fediverse - there is a kind of selection effect in who joins the Fediverse, which I think in some ways can be good (e.g. access to political opinions that aren’t taken seriously elsewhere), but I also think as a community we should be wary of its potential downsides. I wasn’t calling for censorship of conspiracy theories. It annoys me that they are proliferating, but I wouldn’t call for their censorship. But if the situation got super bad (and it is far from super bad at the moment!), I’d probably seek somewhere else to discuss stuff online.
I’ve seen the conflation here on Lemmy too.
