They do not all behave the same. I have many of them that are supplied as a charging cable in small electronic devices. These ubiquitous USB-C cables will not perform a data connection with your phone. At all. I have to search for that one cable that I know works for data since it moves around the house.

A longtime friend of mine and I often go into deeper discussions of a myriad different topics and on that occasion it was probably something about propaganda. My friend is also quite keen on discovering films and documentaries and sharing them with me, so he was aware of and suggested Adam Curtis and his works. This was perhaps ten or so years ago. Quite glad of that.

This doc is one of those big reveals. The curtain gets pulled back and you see the levers being pulled. Being aware of these elements is extremely important, but alas most are not.

This would be required viewing in my education system and I’ve been telling others about it for years. Please do spread the word.

Not sure it’ll be much more than a statement for Seattle proper. The datacenters are already a few hundred miles away in the center of Washington state. If they want to build more (and they do) they will be out there.

I consider this required viewing for everyone. Hope you find the time to finish it. It is four hours and very much worth the time.

Anyway, I do highly recommend (for those that haven’t) investing the time and watching The Century of the Self by Adam Curtis. It is very illuminating as to how we’ve arrived where we are now with regards to propaganda and advertising which are rooted in the same psychological underpinnings.

A bit stunned that happened in Tennessee.

IMO, if you ever hear the click-of-death on a disk whatever you do to get it going is purely to gain access and extract the data. That disk is a spinning dead man.

Pop the disk into the freezer for a few hours (or a day). It has to be long enough for the components to all get cold. This shrinks the materials and could possibly unstick heads from the platters. I think it has worked two out of four attempts for me. This is a method to get access to the data of which you should extract as soon as possible.

Be cautious of condensation on the cold disk as it could potentially arc circuitry.

If it is hosed, can always dead drop it from one banana worth of height on a table to see if the drive heads unlock, then try again.

Or try the freezer trick. It has been many years, but it has worked for me.

I gave up watching sports in large part because of the rampant gambling push. I still love the game of football itself and I do miss seeing the excitement and athleticism, but the ads and shitty, greedy owners ruined it for me. In doing so, it also freed up tons of time not playing (and being frustrated by) fantasy sports, so that’s a bonus. A down side is that when someone asks me a sportball question I can only shrug. Overall more time not being on the couch is good and, in my opinion, there seem to be more pressing matters at hand than sports.

Last I checked Booker was also still voting as AIPAC wanted him to so his “quiet trouble” bullshit is exactly that: bullshit.
