  • While I agree that hardcore Christian fundamentalism/extremism is bad and harmful, I disagree with how this meme focuses on Christianity and gives an implicit pass to other religions, despite all the oppression and hatred propagated by them (and much much worse in some cases).

The meme would be better if it attacked organized religion, or perhaps extremist/fundamentalist belief systems in general.

Another thing is that atheism (at least online from what I can see) can often become its own “religion” in a sense, and suffer from the same negative characteristics that theism could have.

  • I didn’t say anything about banning anything in my previous comment, so I’m not sure where you’re getting that from. But anyway:

Automobiles have negatives, but also positives. In my opinion we shouldn’t ban them, but if we can encourage reduced usage where unnecessary it could help people’s health and the environment. But it would be silly to ignore the benefits that they did and do provide.

As for alcohol, I wouldn’t outright ban it, but I would lean towards banning advertising it.

  • I disagree. Obesity is medically proven to be unhealthy, and many obese people might just give up trying to improve their health, especially if they are told that there’s “no issue”.

Even if we didn’t care about them or their health, society at large still pays for the extra inevitable medical bills, since we can’t really just stop providing healthcare for medical issues caused or exacerbated by obesity.

  • As a non Muslim who was born and lived in a Muslim majority country, I 100% agree with this ban. Children shouldn’t be forced or indoctrinated into that oppressive way of life. When they grow up, they can wear it if they want.

There are millions, possibly hundreds of millions of women and girls around the world that are forced to wear that (or even more extreme versions of it) against their will. Just because we have some anecdotes of women wanting to wear it (after being brainwashed their whole lives with it) doesn’t mean that banning it would infringe on anyone’s rights.

Believe me there are entire countries where if you as a woman went there you would be forced to cover up 😢.
