  • AI companies are the biggest data aggregator though and they indiscriminately scrape literally everything. I am personally completely against copyright and patent law specifically. But sometimes, like in this case, they can be necessary tools. There are probably better ways to protect against AI but none that are recognized in our current framework of how society functions. AI companies are literally stealing everything ever posted online, cause they couldn’t exist without all the data, and then selling it back to people in form of tools while destroying the environment in the process with increasingly gigantic and powerhungry data centers. While also destroying the tech consumer market in the process by buying up components or straight up component producers and taking them off the consumer market.

  • Both the developers of this shit and the users are some sick pieces of shit. This isn’t a completely new issue however, revenge porn and nude celebrity leaks have been happening for a while and were largely ignored an issue. As well as deepfake porn of celebrities, people don’t care cause it’s celebrities, websites have entire categories dedicated to this shit.

Glad I don’t post images of myself anywhere online, not that I would necessarily be a target of this specifically, cause I’m a man. But it seems that people will have to realize that they need to maintain privacy and anonymity online again. Like I remember in the 2000s the first advice you would hear is don’t share any real info online, not even your first name, now it’s acceptable to have your whole life just out there.

  • Quick PSA if you’re dual booting from the same drive, the boot partition size is dictated by the windows install. There is chance that when you’re doing a system upgrade on linux, when recompiling initramfs is necessary, you run out of space on the boot partition since linux makes a fallback/backup on the boot partition. This might block you from upgrading unless you manually delete (and backup) the images and run mkinitcpio -P manually. Note that this may result in bricking your system, but it isn’t hard to fix if you have some experience.
