Begrudgingly i agree, i wish it wasn’t like that, but sleep is important and shouldn’t be neglected.

Shellofbiomatter@lemmus.orgtoMental Health@lemmy.world•opinions on anti-psychiatry?English
2·19 hours agoI’m not anti-psychiatry. It seems to have been helpful for far too many people to be against it or ignore it all together.
It’s just too much of a guesswork at the current price and time allocation it takes from finding a suitable therapist, to finding the problem and whatever it even can be fixed or just learning to live with it, without any actual fixing.
Kinda just like a shot in the dark in rough direction of some sound.Hopefully in the far future it becomes cheaper, more accurate and more accessible. Maybe a brain scan or machine algorithm based initial diagnosis.

2·21 hours agoYeah over the years I’ve found tha people are different and of course there’s nothing wrong in that. No ill will towards anyone on either end of the spectrum.
It’s just always surprising to see someone with a complete opposite of my experiences as i tend to forget about it completely and only reminded of it by outside influence and even then it takes effort.

2·22 hours agoFair, i can see the downside of that, but having a permanent spank bank is a rather good benefit.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Poll: Lemmys outside the Anglosphere, do you have your computer set to English or your mother tongue?English
14·1 day agoEnglish, every tech device is in English. Mostly because out of habit. I grew up using tech before proper translations into my native language started to appear and now it’s just really odd to see tech in my native language.
In addition, troubleshooting is easier. Most troubleshooting guides are in English and translating it into my native language can sometimes have odd translations. So it’s easier to just skip that extra layer.

2·1 day agoAnd nukes have been rather good peacekeepers after the invention of those, so you cant really say that inventing new weapons doesn’t make one safer.
The other person explained it rather well.
But in the face of annihilation, every possible advantage will be used. It’s that simple. Long term and moral consequences are irrelevant, those can be dealt with later, but first one has to get to that later.
If you want to get really personal aka hammer in the point. You can imagine someone who already has broken into your neighbors home and done horrific things and is now breaking into your home and already starting to abuse/hurt/rape your loved ones. There is no police. Would you not use every single possible method to protect yourself and your loved ones? Or would you have philosophical discussion with the invader while they’re raping your wife/daughter/sister or cutting off the balls with a box cutter of your husband/son/brother. Those aren’t even made up examples, those are real examples with videos.

2·1 day agoYeah i know, but it still suprises me. I envy those people.
Yeah pretty much, there’s no reason to add my face into any facial recognition database in the current climate of more authoritarian levels of surveillance and with minimal trust that this data will not be sold to the highest bidder.
And before anyone asks, no i don’t have any social media where i upload pictures of myself. Of course I’m probably on some pictures on the background, but at least I’m doing all i can do avoid it.
Good idea, i totally forgot that angle and that would most likely work as well. Tbf i have a rather unpopular phone so it wouldn’t even be that unbelievable that the app doesn’t work.
Thank you.
The company i work at is currently implementing such a solution.
Complete unnecessary facial scan, it was fingerprint previously and the reader still accepts the same fingerprints as of now.
In addition we’re going to get a phone app that tracks whatever we have logged on for our shift and if not then our location and sends us a notification.
From the production managers perspective, it fully automates working hours calculation, though he has to approve any shift change manually.
From our perspective, it’s supposed to notify us automatically if there isn’t enough work for third(night) shift and notifies us that we don’t have to come. Though we do still get paid for it. Good EU workers protection laws.
Personally I’m rather on the fence about it. I’m most definitely going to refuse the facial scan on the basis that fingerprint works as well and anything more is unnecessary. Though still thinking a good reason to refuse the mobile app and tracking part.
Of course it counts, probably one of the best reasons to do it.
Thanks, i never really thought about it that deeply, though you’re right.
So you’re training for trainings sake too?

12·2 days agoAnd there’s the point, we need an even bigger stick to deter them from using their big stick, which will result in them creating an even bigger stick to counter our big stick, which will result in us creating an even bigger stick to deter them.
Drone warfare is just a next step of that old pattern that can be traced back to the beginning of human civilization.
Now if russia already has autonomous drones, then we most definitely need those and better ones and more to deter russia from using their drones or at least to counter russian drones.
Other option would be to just trust someone who for the last few hundred years hasn’t been really keeping their word on not attacking us or any of their neighbors.
Wasn’t even close to it. Turns out that one needs to do actual crime for in order to go the prison.
Passable grades and not having any great future plans isn’t something criminal and police doesn’t really care about that.

And drinking caffeine too late in the day. No caffeinated drinks should be consumed 6h up to half a day before going to bed.
Limiting caffeine only to morning has had significant impact to how deep my sleep is and over time, improved energy levels from better sleep have noticable reduced the need for coffee all together.
Though can you elaborate a little more on what does the decompressing point. Like how it’s done?
