That’s exactly why I wanted to ask and why I’m appreciative you took the time to give your first hand experiences. Funnily enough, I’ve been trying to do that ever since I ended up playing an MMO that has only been launched in China. Was a very eye opening experience once I was able to handle the language barrier.
I’m with you on this. If I had a company that had their very own exclusive AI trained entirely off my company’s work, that would probably be the FIRST thing I mention when the topic comes up. I’d be pretty proud of that. The lack of mention is pretty damning.
From my perspective it was cartoony enough that I never really thought of it as scary but if you aren’t exposed to media like that often or it’s not culturally prevalent I could see how it might be good to adjust it for broader appeal. That makes some sense. Thank you for humoring my curiosity and teaching me a bit!
Neat! I remember… I think it was World of Warcraft? I thought had to censor skulls/skeletons before releasing there. But if that wasn’t the case then I’m happy to be informed!
This is tangentially related but not intended as an argument or anything. I’m just curious if you have any insight into why skulls get censored in China. I’d rather hear from someone living there than wade through AI slop and propaganda/misinfo.

We don’t know if they were bragging or not. It’s pretty common to ask what someone’s job is during small talk. For all we know they literally just said their job title and left it at that.
That’s the normal size.
It was none of those things actually. It’s impossible to objectively judge our own artworks. We can analyze it, tell others what we think are the strong and weak points, but it’s extremely common for most people, especially when it comes to art, to judge it with a much higher degree of scrutiny that we do not reserve for others.
It’s something I’ve had to work through myself, both with my art and myself as a person. And with that comes an inherent distrust of others opinions of themselves and their work, especially when it’s excessively dismissive or pessimistic.
I think your art is probably better than you think. We’re all our worst critics.
He wanted to eradicate transgender people from society and actively worked with the party currently performing an ethnic cleansing of the US. I’d say these are Nazi dogwishtles but honestly it’s pretty fucking mask off. One does not need to heil Hitler to be one.
