I just think that if we blow out of proportion every mistake everyone makes we may as well start living in isolation in the woods. I think Proton did a lots of good and still does and they deserve benefit of the doubt. All the dramas are imo just a mistakes or misunderstandings echo-chambered by internet to death (and intentionally fed by competition as well). When you take a moment and look at the pure facts reasonably you will probably come to the same conclusion.
It looks like it might be vibe coded, atleast thr detailed claude.md file suggests that. It even includes “no Co-Authored-By” clause, which would suggest the author tries to hide how much is actually generated. Personally I wouldnt trust it unless it is audited by someone or by myself - which I wouldn’t do with a ton of generated code…

Aha, I get it. And I like that its kinda nerdy. I dont think majority of the people will get it though. Just Plutonium would be fine, sounds actually real good and I think searching for plutonium os should be distinct enough (given the fact plutonium is not an element of everyday life). However if you still insist on the shorthand, what I saw people do, have a paragraph explaining what the shortcut means and how to call the os. Something like “the p-239 stands for plutonium and that is what we call the os - Plutonium” or variant of that. Maybe have it on the homepage even as a part of some baner or simly as second or third element under header. And it can also link to the full story (that it was a codename at first…)
Why the name? I find distros with these names that are hard to say annoying to speak about, so I would suggest better name. Something short, catchy and easy to say for people with different languages. But don’t make it too general either so that it is also easy to search for.

In current climate? I’d say almost the opposite, get 16 gigz of RAM and only add more if you really need it or if it gets cheaper. You can add ram any time, it’s the beauty of a desktop pc builds.
Imho they are first and foremost entertainment. If you take it as such, it’s fun. Although as others mentioned it has a bit downward tendency. I think Linus, Luke and others are intelligent, reasonable people and that makes it easier to stick to watching them. True that Linus is sometimes impatient, we all saw his Linux challenges 😅 but they are ok

I always had too many bugs on Ubuntu. Fedora has been solid from the beginning. Only ever had two issues with it in 4 years. I never had such stable experience before.
I humbly disagree with others that 16 Gigz of ram is not enough. A. For the first server it is definitely enough, before you know what you really need. B. In current rampocalypse it would be crazy buying ram without knowing that you really need it (only for it to sit there unused later). Your setup is fine and only time and your inner hobbyist selfhoster will tell later what you need.
Edit: and fyi I curretly do have 48 Gigz 😂, bought it a year ago very cheap and my system uses 10. Therefore I have set a high ARC to 16 GB. I used to try local LLM but didn’t find it useful for the high power consumption. Just wanted to show you where my opinion come from. Nowadays I wouldn’t buy more than strictly necessary.
I’d recommend using eficient procesors as well, so with ryzen with grafics and efficience it’s GE at the end. I recently switched ryzen 5 5500 for ryzen 5 4600GE (because 5500 doesn’t have efficient variant) and the consumption halved (- 30Wh). And both were/are basically idle with very low loads.
In EU those were prehistoric times. Nowadays phones are unlocked.

I did swim with my previous phone multiple times. There is no reason not to. Until my screen was cracked and I didn’t realize it until it was too late (tiny fracture). There is no reason to fear swimming with IP68 (most phones are actually rated for > than 1m) rated phones unless front or back is cracked.
