Disney could add Super Grover to the MCU at any time and chooses not to.

12·5 days agoJust weird to say “I don’t trust reporting from a state-influenced source. I’ll wait until I hear reporting from media owned by a different state with an even more vested interest.”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If you're a parent, how do you prevent your kid from watching AI slop?
4·6 days agoUnpopular opinion: I have a second phone logged into my kid’s YT account. I train the algorithm while he’s sleeping.
It takes a significant time, and YouTube doesn’t have good options for blocking content, but it helps keep out the worst of the brainrot.

I keep adding oils of varying viscosities but it doesn’t seem to help.
But have you tried more cowbell?

I can’t attest to any as I don’t use PDFs this way, but here are a few links:
All of these are self-hostable and FOSS. I’m not sure about NextCloud integration.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•is it embarrassing to graduate college at 24?
5·11 days agoAnd a lot of people graduate at 30. Or 60. Life experience and more readiness than you would have had 2 years ago is not a drawback - it’s a benefit.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is self-hosting on personal computer practical?English
20·13 days agoYeah, it’s better if you can have the computer on all the time, but it only needs to be running when you access it.
I’m not that familiar with FreshRSS, but in general apps will only update at opening (not in the background) for most syncing operations. You may have to do more manual syncing than you would like.

5·13 days agoDistraction is a much more competitive space. Human connection is the one area where social media has an edge. AI content, spam, bot users, etc. erode the basic trust and feeling of connection.
As it gets harder to avoid those, people will seek distraction elsewhere. No one likes being embarrassed.
gedaliyah@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•Meta’s AI Problem: A Growing User FlightEnglish
25·13 days agoSocial media companies forget the Important Thing. People only use social media to connect to people. Once they don’t feel like they are getting that, they won’t stick around just for the distraction.

The headline also does not say the same thing that the post claims!
Headline: “15% of content” --> every 6th or 7th post or comment is a corporate troll
Article: “15% of subreddits contain” --> the vast majority of subreddits contain no troll content
Actual study: [file not found]
I also cannot find any Pew research study resembling the one described. The link is a 2017 report that doesn’t mention reddit.
