That can happen in any monolithic kernel OS. So basically you have two choices: a) Microkernel OS like Redox (still alpha) b) Hypervisor OS like Qubes.

6·9 days agoIn addition to that, in most European countries you have to register with your ID in oder to get a mobile phone number. So its provably end-to-end related to your identity.
I prefer apps that require no phone number. Like Threema, SimpleX, Session, Status, XMPP, or Tox.

6·9 days agoHashing doesn’t really do anything because there are too few possible phone numbers. Easy to bruteforce. See the researchers who enumerated the WhatsApp users database recently via the internet…
I have had this idea in my mind of building a privacy-first, open source dating app built on “privacy by design” principles. Still didn’t get to it tho.
Tried it, doesn’t work. Too many bugs. I can’t input a location and it fails to auto-detect so I am just living in cyberspace apparently.
Culture. For the same reason why in american music every swearword is beeped out, which seems ridiculous to everyone else in the world. It’s just how it is.
