If the crystalline structure of water did not expand from it’s liquid phase (thus lowering it’s density) when it freezes, then ice would not float. Ice would sink trapping everything below it. It’s theorized that this little fact means life likely couldn’t exist if ice didn’t behave this way.

We have much MUCH bigger problems at home with a theocratic fascist dictatorship firmly planted in the white house, both houses and the supreme court. They have already rapidly removed all but yes men from military leadership, Homeland, FBI, Justic, CIA, National Security, etc. and dismantled virtually all checks and balances while pivoting into Gestapo tactics at ICE, ignoring the rule of law, and pissed on Posse Comitatus by sending marines into LA. Oh, and they have arrested prominent democrat politicians. We won’t even get into the privacy erosion with DOGE, the Billionaire handouts, Tarriff graft with insiders, and general fuckery with our supposed allies (Canada, Greenland, Ukraine, Europe & NATO). The US is well and truly cooked.

They FOR SURE cared about it when rural/farmers voted overwhelmingly for Republicans/Trump and knew what he was saying. This is 100% FAFO and now it’s all crocodile tears “don’t care if you are dem or republican” nonsense.
The default response to them should be “you should pick your farm up by the bootstraps and get the crops picked”. Or you know… Pay living wages to get citizen pickers? Either way, good luck without all the exploited labor.
Nope, not possible. The solar system itself is moving as is the galaxy… it’s useful to think of Earth’s orbit as spiraling around the sun in the direction our star is traveling. So 1 orbit later we have not come to the same location.
