I’m just here to point out that your stomach microbiome consists of bacteria and fungi, which are not plants. There’s also direct evidence glyphosate causes several different types of cancer in animals, which is pretty harmful to animals. Also all life is made up of organic tissue, not just animals.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Some folks say lawns are bad. So what is the better option?English
3·17 hours agoThe choice doesn’t have to be lawn or not lawn. I bought a house that was all lawn, front and back, about 10 years ago, and bit by bit I’ve carved out planting beds starting around the perimeter, so now I still have some lawn but can mow it all in under an hour. The first step is absolutely trees. Plan where you want your trees to be, and plant them during your tree planting season (fall where I am).

7·17 hours agoRocks are so. fucking. hot. Landscaping with rocks increases the ambient temperature around your house by like 10 degrees vs. bare dirt. Even in New Mexico, there are so many native trees and shrubs. Please shade the ground and help keep your neighborhood cooler

5·2 days agoIn the end, it probably isn’t easier at all. Once the yeast is created, yeast is dirt cheap and easy as hell to grow, and wouldn’t require managing a field of wildflowers that are going to drop seeds for the following year when you intend to plant crops there. I’m not saying it’s a good or ethical choice, but the yeast definitely has the potential to be easier and cheaper

5·4 days agoNorth by Northwest and The Birds are my two favorites, NXNW for the epic scale and Bernard Hermann’s soundtrack, and The Birds because it’s creepy as fuck. I also really like Rear Window. While I’m not the biggest Jimmy Stewart fan, the story and the set design are amazing.

75·5 days agoWe don’t have that kind of granularity anymore, both because RFK Jr and DOGE have significantly cut public health funding and because there are so many variants out there now and so little difference between them in terms of presenting symptoms

2·5 days agoReal bud has been for sale in Texas for years now and has been completely unregulated. This regulation imposed by the Dept of State Health Services effectively kills the sale of the real stuff in stores by counting THCa in the total THC equation, which was not counted before. Lab derived stuff will still be for sale

News@lemmy.world•Texas will ban smokeable hemp on March 31. Here’s what to know.English
27·5 days agoWhat has happened over the past few years in Texas regarding THC is amazing. Weed is available everywhere. Compared to regulated states like Colorado, it was the wild west. It took the state legislature 3 sessions (6 years) to finally pass a bill trying to make THC illegal again, and Abbott vetoed it.
Well, I’m not happy about these new regulations, which basically make smokeable flower illegal and impose new fees that are certain to put quite a few small shops out of business, however most THC products are going to be remaining on the market, and we’re still going to be able to legally order everything that’s been banned through the mail, which I consider a huge win in this state.
