It might be possible with the Modular Android XMPP Service. I have never used it, so cannot help much. Nevertheless, it seems to have modules to notify of received SMS over XMPP. It may even be possible to send instructions to write a SMS.

Is UserLAnd still maintained? Assuming I found the right forge, the last activity is 4 years old. While I agree that a piece of software can simply be finished, I worry about compatibility in the moving ecosystem of Android.
Do you have experience to share with the different recognition providers of Audile? I have not yet had time to test them.
