    • Company refuses pay worker enough. Expects tips to cover the gap.
    • World Cup visitors refuse to tip. Says company should pay more.
    • Worker gets f*cked over from both ends.
    • Company still gets their money so they going give a f*ck.
    • World Cup visitors get to feel self-righteous.
    • Worker is still f*cked over, can’t pay their rent or buy groceries.

Seems like you’re just being cheap assholes to me. A couple idioms come to mind:

    • two wrongs don’t make a right.
    • when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

      You stopped too soon.

      • Workers can’t live off the low wages and have to quit and find other employment
      • Company can’t hire anyone willing to be paid a non-liveable wage
      • Company has to decide to change or close

I am not saying the workers are at fault. But their participation is part of the problem.

They won’t change. There are to many exploitable workers and to few opportunities.

This is just eurotrash looking down on other people.

          Recent history suggests otherwise.

Also, this is not how economic realities work. Unless maybe you can pull in people with zero experience in the field and serve food and still have customers, but at that point, are you a restaurant? And who wants to eat there?

This literally happened last year in France. Greedy tourist restaurant owners woke up to loads of workers not returning to their restaurants for the summer, having moved to other jobs the because the pay was too bad.

They were even on the radio and on the TV news, complaining about how entitled the young workers were and what were they doing to the tourism economy etc. The answer was extremely simple: pay us properly and we’ll take the jobs.

You won’t believe what happened next. (You will, it’s very obvious)

        They paid better wages.

I’m all for paying people a living wage but these tourists and their symbolic actions will change nothing. Black Americans have been boycotting tipping culture for decades with no effect.

No, they’re not. They’re pushing on the workers who are not the ones in a position to offer fair wages. If they were on more stable economic footing, they would be able to strike and organize more easily so actively pushing on the workers directly is counter intuitive rather than pushing on the restaurants themselves. Even boycotting the restaurant completely would be more effective as that is also felt by the business owners.

Yes, they are. They’re demanding that the companies pay a fair wage. There’s not that many words in the meme, lol.

Pardon me for having trouble finding pity for the Nazi country doing Nazi shit constantly. Maybe they can get a high paying job bombing little girls in other countries.

Yeah and OP is sort of adding insult to injury to the struggling workers. Besides this:

“Leftist” Europeans shouldn’t even have come to the USA in the first place but boycotted the world cup. Pirate the videos too. It’s a fascist police state atm. This is all rewarding the collaborators.

The USA should be banned from the Olympics too, just like Russia is, the US is currently conducting an illegal war of aggression on Iran and is guilty of aiding the genocide in Gaza, not to speak of previous illegal wars.

It’s like one of those slapstick scenes where someone throws a pie at the villain and hits an innocent bystander, then the villain fucks off while everyone else gets into a food fight amongst themselves.

One way to win would be to have a restaurant where the workers are paid and all tips are refused. Seems like there’s a big fat glaring hole in the market for such a thing.

Either that or people can just choose to not go to places with a default tip higher than they want to pay. This would ensure the business owner is getting $0 alongside the workers.
