I meant generally “heard it from somewhere and then repeated it.” Although since you bring that up, I’d argue it’s vanishingly unlikely he ever read “The National Elementary Principal” (1948). It shows up in Forbes the same year, where it’s remotely plausible he read it. Most likely, though, it was just circulating around.
