    It’s a real shame…like, I really feel like there are two types of people who become and remain teachers (at least here in America):

    • Those who love kids (in a platonic sense) and are truly selfless. Think Miss Honey.
    • Those who can’t find stable employment elsewhere but can pass a background check. Think Miss Trunchbull.

    I would think cultural attitudes (particularly work ethic) in Japan make that all the more difficult…especially if they are getting paid comparably.

    Fortunately…I feel the former still outnumber the latter. But they are dwindling in numbers. At least our birthrates are dwindling to compensate.
