Don’t mistake me, though - I’m all for these types of programs. They’re a hell of a lot better than a swathe of people being homeless on the streets, or incarcerated in an overcrowded prison.
if you take the capitalism out of the housing, and didn’t have a dipshit fucking the global economy and cost to eat. in all but the expensive cities in the u.s., it’s probably not that far off for communities of small flats or tiny homes and community-run kitchens.

But yeah even if it cost double to house them rather than imprison them it would still be the right and rational thing to do

Yeah, those numbers don’t make sense with the word “permanently”.
Move to one of the poorest countries in the world, live in a hut and do nothing except eating. Don’t get bit by wildlife or bugs.
