Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he considers freezing military operations along the current front line and shifting the conflict to the diplomatic track a realistic way to end the war.
He made the remarks in a special interview with U.S. television network Fox News, Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the broadcaster.
Asked whether Kyiv would accept a peace deal that froze the conflict along the current line of contact while leaving more than three-quarters of Ukraine’s territory under its control, Zelensky replied:
“Yes. If we have to freeze military operations right now, I think this is the most realistic way to end the war,” the Ukrainian leader said.

It’s a bit questionable what he actually means. He actually says “Yes. If… right now we have to freeze…". Which could really mean ceasefire and continue later. Anything for a ceasefire now. The Russians definitely won’t accept anything except a comprehensive peace agreement which seems impossible with the EU now.
Accepting a ceasefire with terrain freeze is defacto surrendering the terrain.
Even Hamas didn’t accept any terrain concessions and specifically included Israel having to withdraw from Gaza (which Israel and the US then violated).
I mean anything for a ceasefire later, whatever conditions, just to break it later. Ukraine, US empire, EU, NATO, they would find some way to provoke or destabilize and then make a new plausible propaganda case for why Russia broke the peace again and continuing the war is only Russia’s fault. And people would eat it up. Deep strikes would continue. Russia would be stupid to not see that coming.
So Russia is basically forced into settling this on the battlefield, slowly take more territory and only leave a failed and utterly destroyed remainder of Ukraine as a headache for Europe to deal with. I believe such an “ugly victory” is the only way this war will end now. Let Europe stew in their near totalitarian hysteria.
Ukraine wenty to go into debt instead of having America sponsor the weapons Zelensky wasn’t getting all that stuff for free. He was just selling out his country. So Ukraine is now a free buffet for the USA to rob dry of rare earth minerals and other natural resources.
Oh right. I went to check, the map here shows more reasons for Russia to continue pushing the front line just a little bit lol. But this article casts doubt that the deposits are even mineable economically.
And then you’d need processing. China strategically invested massively into that sector, while neoliberal Europe and US simply can’t even conceive to doing such a thing.
Russians want capitulation. Ukraine will do anything to just stop the killing. They can’t win against Russia and America together.
The only thing that will get Ukraine to stop is running out of men or weapons to send into the meatgrinder. It’s probably the second.
They will stop at almost any ceasefire.
Russia will break almost every ceasefire.
And the the meat being grinded is Russians. Even Russian mil bloggers are starting to admit the horrific loses.
Kiev has violated numerous ceasefires in this conflict, and had several chances to negotiate a settlement, primarily blocked by the EU and US (now mostly the EU). Why do you think Russia will break almost every ceasefire? Why do you think Ukraine will stop at almost any ceasefire? It seems like you’re viewing this conflict as “good” vs. “evil,” rather than two countries of humans at war.

There has not been a universal ceasefire, but there have been temporary ceasefires that quickly devolve into Ukraine adopting Israeli tactics, violating them immediately, and then blaming Russia for returning fire. Framing negotiated settlement as “capitulation” implies that Ukraine has ever had an advantageous position, which has never been true and becomes less true day by day. The EU is stuck between their incredible Russophobia and their desperate need for fuel, which is why they are breaking with the US for wanting peace ASAP to depress the price of oil.
Your rant towards the end of your comment is a racist one. You do not see Russians as human, but as a distinct species that biologically behaves in an evil and barbaric manner.

Yes, Israeli tactics, which have been documented by the west before 2022. It’s not a coincidence that Zelensky has stated that he wants Ukraine to be the Israel of Europe, and that the two countries have strong military ties. Block me if truth is uncomfortable for you.
“Ukrainians aren’t in the meat grinder” is an insane thing to say when “Busification” is a word
stop lying, if they wanted to stop the killing they would have reached for a diplomatic solution long time ago. they need to fight to the last ukrainians to support daddy usa imperialist goals.
As opposed to the imperialist russian war goals?
i understand you live in the empire and you get a lot of treats for being a good boy, but imperialism is not defined by starting a war. read a book.
What empire? Most of it fell apart decades ago, and I hardly support nations. Not sure why you need to be so condescending but from what I’ve seen there’s a clear aggressor who could stop just as easily as they started. The imperialism is the attempts to grab territory and use the reactions against it as an excuse to keep doing so. I’m not saying the other parties don’t also have their agendas, it’s the perfect excuse to test the waters of how a large scale war with Russia could pan out. But in the current situation Russia is one of the more visible threats. Anyway I don’t know why I’m bothering arguing in the ml echo chamber…
as far as i know the western empire is still participating in the slavery and labour theft, so no, it did not fell apart. but of course you’re going to deny it. that is not a definition of imperialism, you don’t understand what imperialism is. i don’t owe you kindness while you’re supporting the imperialist exploitation of ukraine by western capital and promoting the asiatic horde narrative.
Imperialism is the policy of expanding power through territorial gain, economic or political control. Ukraine is being exploited by both sides of this war and it’s imperialism from both fronts. That being said one side can easily stop being an aggressor. If you believe that there’s a “western empire” (I’m fully onboard with the idea that a group of people are attempting to manipulate geopolitics, it’s pretty clearly on display already) how can you not believe that Russia is involved in it or their own equivalent? Putin himself has said “where a Russian soldier sets foot, that is ours” when referring to the territory they’ve already taken. how is that not imperialism? The west is going downhill fast but the alternatives aren’t looking any better. Also on the note of the Asiatic horde comment, I never once made any comments on the Russian people themselves but if you’re going to jump straight to that then it’s hard to believe you’re discussing this in good faith.
No they don’t. Even western media has started to report on the forced conscription, which has been known about for ages despite liberals wholly rejecting that or projecting the busification towards Russia for dumb reasons. It’s incredibly clear that Ukrainians don’t want this war but NATO and Amerika really do.
That’s completely illogical, besides being patently wrong. Forced conscription has nothing to do without with it. It’s normal for a country in war.
NATO has no interest in this war. Europe has no real army, no stockpiles of weapons, only token weapons industry. They had to big economic connections with Russia that they can’t even break 5 years into this war. Europe had such a big incentive for this war not to happen they they ignored Russian military annex of Crimea 8 years prior.
America you can see that now they are buddies with Putin. While you could argue that they have some sinister plan to put Russia into war with Europe, it’s just so obvious to see that their foreign policies change daily. There is a clown at the wheel and there is no depth there. They would be happy to control the world economically and Russia is a regional power for them.
NATO foolishly provoked this war through couping Yanukovych in 2014. The reason NATO provoked the war is because they want Russia in a weak enough state that foreign capital can dominate them and profit off of it, they want to force Russia to give up their sovereignty in exchange for cash needed to rebuild. The US is not allies with Russia, otherwise the US would be giving arms to Russia and not Ukraine.

Yanukovych was supported largely in Eastern Ukraine:
The event that sparked the coup was Yanukovych deciding to go with a Russian loan that did not require him to enact austerity measures on the Ukrainian populace, instead of the IMF loan that did. The far-right in Ukraine, the nationalists that upbold Nazi-collaborator Stepan Bandera, worked with NATO to overthrow the government. The modern Kiev state is a direct descendent of that far-right movement.
The Donbass region then seceded from Kiev, and the Ukrainian Civil War began. You are erasing the agency of those in the Donbass that still supported Yanukovych. NATO was upset that Ukraine was not falling under their influence more, and so they supported domestic, home-grown neo-Nazis in overthrowing the democratically elected president.
The US does not dominate Russia, not since the 90s. After the nationalists took power, they ended the crisis that foreign finance capital had created by gobbling up the former Soviet state for profit. A domestic capitalist class arose, but it kept the wealth inside Russia, if mostly in their hands, rather than keeping it flowing outside of Russia. Russia is a far more industrialized country than western European countries, they produce a lot for themselves, and trade heavily with regional partners like China. They inherited the soviet union’s developed industry, so this only makes sense.
You have a concerningly chauvanist view of Russia.
I think this you are confused of several different things: legitimate regional divisions within Ukraine, the real influence of far-right nationalists, the nature of the Maidan revolution, and Russia’s own geopolitical and economic interests.
First, Yanukovych’s support was indeed concentrated in eastern and southern Ukraine, and many people in Donbas genuinely opposed the change of government in 2014. But acknowledging their agency does not mean accepting the claim that the war was simply a spontaneous civil war caused by Kyiv refusing to respect their wishes. The conflict developed through a combination of domestic political divisions, the seizure of government buildings by armed groups, Russian support for separatist forces and eventually direct Russian military intervention. You conveniently ignore Russia’s role in escalating and sustaining the conflict.
Second, which should be very obvious, the existence of far right groups does not establish that NATO orchestrated a coup or that the Ukrainian state is fundamentally a Nazi project. Far right organizations were disproportionately visible in street confrontations, but they performed poorly in subsequent national elections. Svoboda won approximately 10.4% of the vote in the 2012 parliamentary election, falling to around 4.7% in 2014. That hardly supports the idea that Ukrainian politics as a whole was taken over by a Nazi movement. And if we take a peek at the Russian side, where Nazi iconography is flaunted and the state is a dictatorship with obvious (statistically proven) fake elections.
Third, the loan dispute is more complicated than the claim that Yanukovych simply chose a humane Russian loan over a cruel IMF loan. That just a silly idea. It was a geopolitical bargain that would strengthen Moscow’s leverage over Ukraine. Ukrainians were protesting not merely over the technical terms of a loan, but over the government’s reversal on European integration, corruption, police violence, and the increasingly authoritarian direction of the state. You cannot reduce the entire movement to NATO manipulating Ukrainians over a financial dispute. Yet you do that. Why?
Finally, the argument about Russia’s economy does not really establish what you want it to establish. Industrial capacity is not the same thing as broad economic prosperity,I. Economic independence from Western finance is not the same thing as economic independence from global capital. Oligarchic class, dependence on hydrocarbon exports, capital flight, inequality… The fact that Russian capital is controlled domestically rather than by Western investors does not mean that Russian people benefit.
US and NATO have their own strategic interests, sometimes destructive. That deserves criticism. But Russia is also an imperial power with its own regional ambitions, and its invasion of Ukraine cannot be explained as merely a defensive response, even more so confusing they are tearing down cities leaving just rubble and death. Acknowledging that does not require pretending their actions are identical or that smaller countries have no right to determine their own political future.
So I would reject the accusation of chauvinism. Criticizing Russian nationalism, oligarchic capitalism, or military intervention is not an expression of hostility toward Russian people or Russian culture. Likewise criticizing Ukrainian farright movements does not mean denying Ukrainian sovereignty. The consistent position is to recognize the agency of Ukrainians, including those in Donbas, while also recognizing the agency of Russians and the interests pursued by the Russian state. Neither Washington nor Moscow should get to decide the political future of Ukraine on behalf of Ukrainians.
But you don’t seem to agree? Or you think that its all some conspiracy and Ukrainians actually love Russians.
The war was not simply sparked by fascists overthrowing the president the Donbass region supported, but the total capitulation to NATO and imperialism. Russian influence existed previously, just as western influence did, but it was not Russia that aided the coup, merely those that took up arms against the fascists.
As for Ukraine and its love-affair with Bandera, this is open and honestly waved proudly, to the point that ties with Poland are in serious strain. Zelensky himself has said that he wishes to make Ukraine the “Israel of Europe,” and anti-sovietism has become the basis of state ideology. Where Russia has questionable legitimacy in their elections, Zelensky has stopped all elections, despite growing controversy over his regimes corruption and a lack of support for the war.
As for the far-right wishing to be dominated by western imperialism, rather than play a neutral role and maintain ties with Russia, I already acknowledged this. Of course the far-right did not simply want austerity, they also wanted further integration with European imperialists, and oppose Russia. I already stated as much.
I never said the Russian people benefit from being exploited domestically, rather than internationally. I merely explained that the west wishes to re-dominate Russia, and that the US does not presently dominate Russia.
If you respect the right of people to self-determination, then you should support the right of Donetsk and Luhansk to secede and request Russian assistance, and you should reject NATO’s expansionism that provoked the war in the first place. You are a chauvanist because you treat Russians as genetically evil.
US, EU, and NATO interests are not merely “sometimes destructive,” they are nakedly imperialist and seek to pilfer as much surplus value from the rest of the world as possible.
Lol
