Despite having been the one to shoot and kill Ah Loo and wound Arturo, the yet unidentified No Kings “peacekeeper” was detained and released without charges after being questioned by police.
detained and released without charges after being questioned by police
Provocateur, snitch and/or undercover cop.
Self labeled “peacekeeper” so yeah just a cop
Let’s point out the guy they shot at was all in black, went behind a wall and started assembling his rifle, then when confronted by the peacekeepers HIRED BY THE PROTEST ORGANIZERS he ran away into the crowd while lifting his rifle into firing position.
HIRED BY THE PROTEST ORGANIZERS
What’s with people saying “hired” now?
It was an unpaid volunteer, and as far as I know we have zero information on how much vetting was involved.
Like, where is this shit coming from?
Did you read it somewhere in a comment and are just repeating like it’s true?
Do you not understand why there’s so much criticism of these “peacekeepers”?
Did you ever read an article instead of just comments?
A growing presence at demonstrations in recent years, many protesters hold disdain for protest marshals, pejoratively called “peace police.” To many, the use of marshals hampers spontaneous and autonomous tactics, and puts those who are willing to take more risky actions during protests in danger. In some instances, these “peace police” have gone so far as to isolate and turn in to police protesters who take on more confrontational roles, leading to arrests and police violence.
Yeah… that’s questionable behavior. I don’t really feel like the peacekeepers really meant to kill the other guy. It’s a real shame though. I feel like a taser would’ve been a lot better suited for y’know, crowds. Edit: Actually read the article. They didn’t even talk to him first. It’s a little weird to have an AR-15 at a peaceful protest. That sorta seems like you’re about to shoot it up. But c’mon? Not even talking to him first? A little questionable.
It’s a little weird to have an AR-15 at a peaceful protest.
That was throwing me off, too, but at least anecdotally from within the article and other times I have heard it online, that seems to be not all that uncommon in the US in “open carry law” states. Weirds me out, too, but you would expect that people hired ‘based on their “military, first responder and other relevant de-escalation experience.”’ as per the statement of the organisers, should have de-escalatory tools for precisely open-carry situations before, well, shooting.
If you are going to insist on wearing a mask and go to protests like this, rifle in hand, then it’s only a matter of time before there’s going to be a tragedy. How is anyone supposed to know if you’re a good guy when you look just like a bad guy? If Arturo had been carrying concealed, or at least kept the rifle on his back, this wouldn’t have happened.
I’m with you on the rifle, but black blocking is an effective protest method to keep police from being able to target individuals. If a large number of people wear all black with masks, it becomes harder to prosecute individual protestors.
In a group that is black blocking, yes.
Being the only person lack blocking with an AR 15 on a side street away from the crowd? That’s cosplaying as a mass shooter.
It was only a matter of time before the state goons would start killing innocent civilians with total impunity. That’s what happens in dictatorships.I misundertood who the peacekeeper worked for.
State goons? The peacekeeper was hired by the protest organizers.
Well, yeah…
The “peacekeeper” killed a peaceful protester, they probably got an interview to be a cop and a pat on the back.
Like, the cops are probably excited this happened
Or he did what he was put there to do.
We know zero about the shooter(s) besides they claimed to be volunteer peacekeepers, but the volunteer peacekeepers were forbidden from carrying guns…
I don’t know why people keep acting like they had any type of authority.
They saw a gun carrying a gun breaking zero laws and started blasting.
Good intentions or not, they deserve to be charged and have their firearms taken away.
But this is a larger problem as the article gets into. These “peacekeepers” aren’t there to protect from the police, they’re there to police protesters and hand anyone further left than they are to the police.

They’re working against the cause not for it, even if they dont understand what’s happening
Neoliberals with guns, they do t care about any rules restricting themselves, but will literally murder a bystander if someone else is doing the exact same thing.
Like, when it comes down to it the only people who fucked up were the “peacekeepers”. And now someone is dead.
