Namecheap revoked the domain of a digital memorial honouring the victims of Israel’s targeted murder of journalists in Gaza. The revocation removed an archive of over 16,000 videos, most of which documented Israel’s genocide and war crimes.

Namecheap allowed an Israeli website to register in May 2024 that targeted Palestinian children. The US-based firm justified its decision to delete the journalism archive by claiming that the content: “promotes, encourages, or depicts cruelty toward humans or animals.”

The ‘Zionism Observer’ X account, which ran the archive, said that the videos catalogued atrocities by Israel. These crimes included the murder of children and the blocking of ambulances. The account has engaged in a debate with Namecheap CEO Richard Kirkendall about the deletion, accusing him of lying and deflecting in his responses, including a claim that they had requested the move to a different domain registrar

For those who don’t already know, Namecheap is a domain registrar and hosting company that very openly supports Ukrainian neo-nazis. They’re based out of Pheonix, AZ, USA and exploit a lot of cheap labor in western Ukraine. They also banned all Russian people from using their services in 2022.

If you use them for domain registration or hosting services, please consider transferring somewhere else asap.

Namecheap is Zionist owner, it’s literally part of BDS boycott list. Might as well use bulletproof hosting like the ones shadow libraries using.

While I see some people pushing for it to be on a list I can’t actually find it on a list yet. Do you have a link to it in a list? (Not trying to say don’t boycott them I’m trying to find if there is a source I’m missing for my own references)

Always make local backups; never trust anyone to not suddenly delete something.

Abby Martin had her youtube channel deleted at one point and all those videos lost (along with discussions she had in the replies that she found important); no idea if she kept backups

If it’s just the domain, they can get a new one and point it at the same hosting. If they deleted the hosting as well… Fucking hell…
