Thanks. I’m familiar with the practice, I was more interested in the (possible) history of it being abused as a human rights wedge issue by the British, as huf suggested.

Well, it does track with the how and why of partitioning. Keep me in mind if you ever run across that lecture again.

I’m not very familiar with that, do you have some links or recommended reading you can share with me?

It really is another incredibly cynical exploitation of “human rights” causes for political gain. It’s been in use for such a long time, westerners should have a much better immunity to this trick by now.
There’s this lecture where Parenti talks about how the US media pretended to care about the anti-imperialist struggle of Cubans against Spain, and how it was just political cover for US imperialism in Cuba. I think about that a lot, and how there’s this direct line from that moment in history to what the US media, NED, and all the other CIA cutouts do today.

Dude was borderline illiterate Epstein was a super-genius who made major innovations to the English language, particularly regarding punctuation.
Some of the formatting weirdness is probably from HTML->plain text conversion. I suspect that the random “=” that frequently appear might be from sloppy GPG decryption on the FBI’s part?

Lessons from Libya

ICE has been killing non-whites for decades and libs called it ‘maintaining law and order’. Amerikkkans literally get more vocally upset about disappointing video game slop than virtually any number of dead brown children. Still a century away from any meaningful form of revolution. The social consequence of believing in nothing.

Sorry, I should have phrased that differently.
I guess I’m considering the nature of the question if the consequence of non-compliance is not even economic, but just simply murdering people. Because I can apply economic analysis to one, but the what you’re suggesting just sounds like naked terrorism, which warrants a different kind of thinking.

What’s the correct response to “Kiss the ring or maybe we kill your civilians?”

Stealing land from Mexico is an Amerikkkan tradition. But then what? The Fourth Reich is going to make their own shoes or pick their own lettuce? They could do that in any of the other land they stole from Mexico, like Texas. The formula is cheap labour inside other people’s borders. The whole point of those factories being there is they’re explicitly not in the US, and it would defeat the whole point to seize the land they’re on. So what then? They’re going to take the land AND the people? Is the presumption they will turn Mexico into a slave colony? If so, capitulation is defeat and Mexico should buy nukes and prepare for war right now.
These people live in a fantasy world to think such threats would produce anything other than their own collapse.

Mike Waltz’s statement to the UN is more unhinged than the bullshit they cooked up for Iraq 2.
“There is no war against Venezuela or its people. We are not occupying a country. This was a law enforcement operation in furtherance of lawful indictments that have existed for decades.”

The famously neutral BBC 🧐

I fucking hate these people so much.

Hearing reports that Maduro’s “trial” won’t happen until 2027.

Honestly? What is daddy amerikkka going to do? Move their factories to China to punish Mexico? Amerikkka is depends on Mexico for a lot of food and other things, and they can’t really do anything to change that because it would make the line go down.
Who sold out this time?

Both Maduro and his wife have plead not guilty. "I am a decent man, the president of my country”.
Whomst among us doesn’t love a good crank ;)
